Muscle twitching and jerks

Hi. I have read a couple of places that other people experience this with peri. Just wondering if anyone has a clue as to what causes it. It was bad for about a week and then got better. Now it's back. Ugh. Such a worrisome symptom. Please again tell me I am not alone on this one!

Hello guys. I'm so happy that I found this thread. It is almost 3 am, I can't sleep, so I'm searching for information. I'm having for nearly 3 weeks this strange twitching buzzing bubbling sensation in my body. Mostly in my left leg, less in the right leg, but is moving around the body. I think that I'm in perimenopause. I'm 46, and I did the home menopause test (it is similar like you use pregnancy test) a few months back. The home test showed low hormone levels. I did it because I couldn't sleep, and I was curious if this might be a cause of this. Now, these new symptoms are worrisome. Dr.Google didn't help me (the health anxiety is sky high now). I have read all your answers, and I can see that I'm not alone in this. I wonder how long I'll experience this.

Hi Anna, definitely Google tends to make worries worse! 😃 How long have you had the twitching? Many of us here have had for quite a long while. As I was telling Anita above, I started taking saffron supplements about 6 weeks ago and (perhaps coincidentally) the twitching subsided quite a lot for the first time in 7 months!

      Hello there,

I have also been experiencing twitching all over my body recently. It also happens in my eyes! Has anyone experienced it also in the eyes? it has been going on now for almost a year!

I am taking clonozapam and carbamizapine (sp?) and it is helping the twitchings in my body but not in my eyelids. I've seen neurologists, eye specialists, had botox, all with not much help...in the eyes that is. I have also experienced electric type shocks in different places in my face.

Anyone here had eyelid twitching along with the other twitches? I am 46 and from this thread believe i may be in perimenopause.

I have tried everything....including magnesium, b-12, had an mri, numerous blood tests all that showed nothing.

Can you pm me the kind of saffron you tried please?

I've been twitching in my eyes and face for months. In addition to having twitching and internal tremors every where. I'm trying the saffron too . I'll keep you posted.

Yes I've had internal tremors also. Can you tell (private message) me the brand of saffron you are using?

      Vashti and Anita,

Please keep us posted on whether the saffron supplements have any effect for your at all after you've tried it for several weeks.

When I was researching all the possible causes for my twitching, I ran into a few different possibilities, including neurological issues, hormones, and also exposure to toxins. In my case it could be any/all of those things. One of the factors I kept in mind is that about a day before I started noticing the twitching, I had sprayed a glyphosate pesticide (like RoundUp, but different brand) to deal with very bad weeds coming over from my neighbour's side and the spray got onto my legs. Now I'm not sure if that's a cause for my twitching, but I researched it and found it's quite possible. When I looked for possible solutions, I came across saffron. The interesting thing is that saffron is also a possible solution for other causes of twitching, including other neurological or hormonal issues.

In case anyone is interested, here's one piece of research on the effect of saffron on toxic pesticide effects: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6054089/

      It's also effective for depression!

I sure hope it's helpful to you both.

      Will do!

I've seen a few neurologists who couldn't really link it to anything, even had botox for the twitching in my eyelids, but with that you have to be so careful. It didn't help much.

I'm willing to try anything safe.

Just checking in. Have you felt some reprieve at all? I'm still twitching on and off.

      Hi there,

No. Still twitching regularly . The clonazepam and carbamizapine help a little bit. Also still taking various supplements, but after numerous visitsto neurologists and eye specialists (twitching happens alot in my eyelids), still no real relief. There isn't any pattern . It's just random. Sometimes I have good eye days and sometimes it's horrible.

I haven't tried the saffron yet but plan to very soon.

I am in the same situation with the internal tremors and eye twitching. I am borderline hashimotos so maybe that is what is causing mine and also anemic very often. Fun times hope you are doing better.

      Hi Vashti08,

I have a twitch in my right eye very often! Its driving me crazy. I am 44 and believe I am

in peri-meno. Surely this is hormonal related, has yours gotten any better?
