Muscles twitches

Hi everyone,
For the past two months I've had almost constant twitching in my feet and calves, and have now also developed occasional random twitches in other parts of my body. Sometimes I'll even have a finger or toe jerk. (I've tried taking a magnesium/calcium combination over the past two months; no effect.)
I think I'm in perimenopause. I'm 49 years old and my periods have been extremely heavy and starting to get irregular. About two years ago I started developing pain and it has really escalated (especially in my legs), but the thing that really stresses me out is the twitching. I don't want to go the doctor with this just yet; I've already spent countless hours at doctors' offices and labs (for a facial neuralgia) and I don't want to go through that stress all over again just now.
Does anyone else get this twitching (or ever had it), and do you have any thoughts to share about it? Thanks in advance for any thoughts at all.

Hi,
I'm in peri as well for a couple of years now and been experiencing muscle twitching , spasms, like I'm boiling from the inside, internal tremors and crawling it is driving me crazy! results from MRI show nothing of concern said the neurologist , waiting for blood test results anyone else feel the same?

Hi Anita,
I am getting all those things as well, plus other things.
Ive started on a very small dose of oestrogen. I tried Livial, but it ended up not doing a whole lot for me, I will see how the other goes.

Having a bad moment of twitching and spasms and was wondering how you were doing? Is there anything else I can take as a supplement?

Hi @anita42201, sorry to hear you're having a bad moment. I'm experiencing the same. The twitching that was pretty constant in my feet and calves now feels like all those muscles are squirming endlessly instead of just twitching. Then I also have occasional random twitches elsewhere in my body. My left foot, left toes and left thumb occassionally have tiny involuntary jerks (movements) as well.
On the suggestion of several friends, I've tried taking calcium, magnesium and Coenzyme Q10 (Ubiquinol form), which I've been taking for a few months now. These didn't help with the twitching, although it seems they helped with some trembling that I had going on (or else it's just a coincidence that the hand trembling stopped).
I hope things get better for all of us soon!

Hi Stella-Z
Starting twitching in my right arm now and it is really bothering me. I try to exercise as much as possible. Ran for 30 mins today. I hope all of this is a good sign.

@Anita42201, that's great! It's such a good idea to do as much exercise as possible! If I could run, I would, but I have terrible knees! 😃 I am inspired to go for a long walk now! Please keep us posted.

Hi Anita,
My twitching and spasms fluctuates. I try not to think about it too much, although the tingling which seems to precede the twitching a lot of the time is like reminder of it.
I even have two fingers that twitch, so now I'm morosely diagnosing myself with early onset Parkinson's disease. I do myself no favours! I STILL have not mustered the courage to go and see a neurologist, mind you.
I have just started taking a vitamin B complex because I read that vitamin B deficiency is very underdiagnosed and not routinely tested for. I know in the myriad of tests I've had, including vitamin/mineral checks, I was not tested for it.
This has been going on for over a year and a half now, by my calculations! I have had no loss of muscle or strength, so I'm self ruling out Motor Neurone / ALS...at this point.
That's another thing, I'm turning into a hypochondriac too!! I think I'm losing the plot.
Thank god I've read about other menopausal women's issues, it's one of the things helping.
Hope you are going a bit better. Post an update if you have time.

I've had the twiching, tremors and all that is stressing me out. I'm 48 and in peri. Apparently, no cause for concern . Doing more blood work sporadic pain every where but not debilitating . my cousin said she felt the same symptoms due to her menopause. I'm comforted to know many other women experience the same symptoms

Hi @anita42201, I responded to your other above a moment ago, but thought I'd ask -- which country are you in? It seems to me that doctors in the States seem to order more tests and are more ready to give diagnoses than in other countries. (I'm in Canada.)

i don't about ordering tests more in the states than in canada probably has to do with the cost

Yes, I will.
Was just wondering, do you feel\ see a tremor when articulate hands and arms? I have some, which are worst when anxious.
I'm going to see an endocrinologist soon, which I hope will provide some light at the end of the tunnel!

Hi Stella-Z,
How have you been holding up? Nothing has helped the twitches so far, and I'm feeling out of sorts at the moment. Will see my neuro for a follow up on Monday, apparently all my blood works are normal. I wonder what will come next.
Wondering if you also experience or feel a slight tremor when you articulate your hands and arms?
I would take hot flushes anytime over these peri symptoms.
