My left ankle is broken. You have to experiment with different pillows. I sleep on my right side and I put a couple of pillow lengthwise sideby side in front of my left leg and put my leg kind of in between them. On the side of the pillows I have a wedge pillow and sometimes I put my left knee on that and lay my foot and leg on the 2 pillows, I also put a not so puffy pillow between my knees. I know it sounds like a hassle but you have to do anything to make yourself comfortable. I have 9 different pillows in my bed. Sleeping pills help to. I thought I was crazy but I googled sleeping with a boot an this girl had on u tube how she methodically lays down all these pillows so she can sleep. So it's not just me. If you can sleep on your back you can get the wedge pillow and just rest your legs on that. Each night can be different ..not a pleasant thing ! GL

ive never used a boot to sleeping. i dont think a lot will be done if you sleep by yourself. I havent had a problem sharing a bed with my boyfriend. But if its needed, I dont think theres any comfortable way. Maybe use body pillow.

I had two reconstruction surgeries on my ankle a year apart. One of my top challenges was trying to sleep with that boot on. The first time, I had a heavy black very tall boot. Not all boots are the same. I ordered a lighter and shorter boot off of Amazon from a medical supply company and it was cheaper and my doctor was happy to approve it. I also ordered a wedge foam orthopedic pillow off Amazon and that helped a lot. One of the biggest issues for me was getting all tangled up in the sheets, blankets, etc. I found using a more slippery satin bottom sheet and just a quilt helped with turning and adjusting.

Unfortunately, you may just have to survive and get through it. My ankle is strong and pain free now, it was worth the hell I went through! Hang in there!

its tough to sleep with the boot.

I did manage but had to sleep in almost same position (back) or side.

I found it so much easier sleeping in my cast.

Ive been boot free sleeping for about a month now

    You will get there

Its an injury/recovery that takes a lot of patience.

**The boots are tough to sleep with. Get yourself a wedge for your legs. When I couldn't bare it any longer , I would get the wedge under my lets and it took a lot of that weight of the boot off. Once I got used to how and what I needed , I would take it off some times. I know its not ideal but so isn't a good nights sleep! **

I also bought from Walmarts a concave knee pillow you put between your knees. Pillows are the answer , you just have to find the right combo.

Pregnancy pillows are good for this. The long ones that go around your entire body with a head bit for a pillow (I added one because my head was really flat). I also had to sleep in a boot for 5 months a few years ago. This year, for 8 months (same ankle). I put a pillow between my lower legs and thighs. I put a pillow at my back if on my side for support. Just place them where you feel comfortable and get the best support. My most recent surgery was an archilies tendon release and I still have trouble sleeping on my back as thecscar is still very painful. I was in casts for 4 months then a boot. It took around 3 months for me to be able to tolerate any touching of my ankle or foot. Now, 10.5 months later, I can JUST manage to moisturize it but I still gag a bit at the touch. There are other reasons I'm still in the boot. Unfortunately, I now need a full reconstruction so I'm going to be in a boot for a lot longer. I take it out every day until the pain gets too bad and I have to put it back on. 😦.

    Hope you feel better!!!

Yeah, as per other writers, wedges are good for support too. I don't really have hard wear (anchors in my tibia which are still horribly painful 4 years later). I have severe sciatic nerve damage and denervation from my knee down (nerve endings are dying). My nerve damage causes my pain to be much much worse than it should be. I get bad engorgement (blood and fluid drop to my foot when up so my veins fill up causing swelling, blue black colour and venous spasm... I want to rip it off) and my skin feels cross between painful and dull. Weird. I really hope you and others with ankle surgeries etc feel better. Ankles are terribly painful injuries.
