My doctor told me they were not addictive

Posted , 1 user is following.

I have been on this tab for about a year. Previously I was on Temazepam and my doctor wanted me off them. Zopiclone was the answer he said as it was not addictive.

All went well for a while and then little by little I began to suffer from vertigo. I thought it was a side effect of my Glaucoma and went to my doctor last week. He checked me out for a mini  stroke etc and I was ok. Finally he felt the only suggestion he could come up with was a virus.  It would pass he said. If not I should go to A and E. The vertigo is so severe I cannot go out or drive.  I do take loads of tablets for multiple conditions. Diabetes,Glaucoma,Sick Sinus Syndrome,Polymyalgia etc etc.

Yesterday my son suggested maybe I should try to cut down on some tablets as he felt I was treating my body like a chemical laboratory. Last night I went  cold turkey  without Zoplicone. It wasvery hard. I did not sleep. However, my vertigo today has been slightly better.

I have been reading these posts and it seems as if I may be on to something.

Am I ??

Sounds as though  your son is giving you GOOD advice. It won't be the Zopiclone

that is causing the vertigo You may have Labrynthitis which is an infection of your

inner ear, makes you dizzy, and can make you feel sick, due to loss of balance

Time you had a serious talk with your doc about all the tabs you are taking, and

see if they are all necessary

I got sick of taking prescription drugs which caused even more problems with

all the side effects, so I stopped taking them and went on to herbal cures

Have to say ,I feel 100% per cent better ,and the laughable thing is, some of

my """conditions"" have improved  or gane away

So Chemical man It's up to you now ,and take notice of your son

      jacqueline,

Thanks for your comments. What yo say makes sense. After all I have taken 7.5 Zop for about a year without any negative side effects.Labrynthitis could well be the problem. My G P didnt even suggest  that. I know that balance is centred in the ear so some issue there seems logical.

What is the answer?? Antibiotics?? If so which one is usually prescribed.?? Does it take long to clear up?

Thanks again for your info. I'll let you know what happens.

      When I get a bout of Labrynthitus , i take PROCHLORPERAZINE 5mg

Don't have to take the full course ,because it works really well, and I

always make sure that I have some on hand, so I can kick it into

touch before it gets a grip. I am not a lover of prescription drugs, but,

this one is Good. Nothing worse than feeling dizzy and nauseous

      at the same time

No.I do not suffer fom Tinnitus.I am pleased to say I feel a little better this morning and can walk without feeling dizzy, though I am still very weak. Looks as if it may have been  a virus after all. Too early to rule anything in or out, but I am hopeful

What you say about a review of all my tabs still holds true and I shall discuss with doc in near future.

       Thanks again

Bob.  the near future is too far away, A simple  "" Watch my finger ""

will tell your doc. if you have Labrynthitis

How many tabs do you take ?? Shed or lorry ???

I use Zopiclone  3-75 because i DO have Tinnitus, and falling asleep is

impossible because of the non stop orchestra which of course,

      increases when it's quiet

Does your "handle " refer to the hat ,or the canal ???

He did the finger test.Negative so far as I know. No orchestra for me either.

I take the truck. Metformin, zicron, ramipril, prednisolone, omiprazole,Pacemaker, ganfort eye drops, indapamide,Timalol, sodium carbonate,Lipitor,Lymecyllin.

The Canal. I divide my time between Panama and UK.

So in spite of everything I do my best to still enjoy life.

He can see if your eyes wobble, but you will be unaware of it.

So, you are doing good ,No Tinnitus. No Laby ------

You REAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLY do need your tabs sorting.

It's a wonder they let you through customs with that lot in tow.wink

Are you here or there  at the moment ?? There  would be good

Morning Bob, I know it's early, but this due to non functional Zopiclone.

I wuold be intereted to kmow what colour you tabs are  The reason I ask ,

is, when I was started with them, they were blue and tasted vile

The colour and manufactures changed ,obviously cash driven. I now

have to resort to taking two 3.75 every evening ,which allows me 4

hrs I recently had afew days in hospital, and the blue Zops were given to me,3.75   only one, and I slept 7 hours ,as I used to  I was sent home with a two week supply, and slept  very well, Then It was back to my

G.Ps white ones ,and the three hour sleeps returned Two reasons

come to mind, they are placeboes, or, they are so cheap that the

main ingredient has been omitted .

It looks like a trip to have a chat with the pharmasist ,to ask a few

questions. there is a herbal remedy for sleepless nights, which

worked on my mother,  she was on Zops for a long time. and had

no problems changing over ,and, she sleeps good, and long.

Kalms one a night ,here I come !!!!

Jacqueline (wide awake ) I think there is a song about this

      Good afternoon Jacqueline,

My 7.5 Zops are white.I cannot say if the tabs are colour coded by strength. Best to ask your pharmacist those questions. As for what happened in hospital is anybodys guess though I doubt they would dare give you a placebo.

My virus is sill with me and shows little sign of leaving. So its cups of tea,and lots of TV for the moment. Haven't been through the door for almost two weeks now. My sister has invited me to stay for a while til I'm more like myself. I may just do that.

Hello my Dizzy friend. Sounds like a good idea to go and be looked after.

Afraid it 's all DiY at  this residence. You have for some reason,

asked me the questions /i asked you , but back to front. I will put it down to your virus. Must be a stubborn critter, hounding you for so long

By the time you are better, I will have the answers to OUR

questions ,quite funny really ,as you have been quite normal .cheesygrin

Why not give your doc a call, ours do a ""call back"" system ,which

saves them getting out of their chairs to visit.

A bit of fresh air would probably do you good ,just stick Your head

out of the window, and do some deep breathing.

So, pack your spotted hanky and tell your sister Yes Please

I hate feeling crock, I usually get into the car ,and hurtle off to

      jacqueline,

We all have a story to tell.I certainly recognise the D  I  Y element of your own narrative. But  my mother used to say that the bed we make is the one we have to lie in. LOL.Maybe what Derbyshire does for you so Panama does for me.

The longer my own saga continues, the more convinced I am that my balance mechanism has become damaged in some way.A crystal in the canal maybe. The Epley procedure could well be the answer. I say this because I do not feel unwell apart from my efforts to walk in a straight line. Very strange.

I suppose you get solace from the Peak District, which is not a million miles from me.

      Hello Bob,

I see that we are in for a profound session..

The bed bit was usually said , when someone had dug a hole and

couldn't get out of it.  I go to Derbyshire, because I'm a horse loving

country girl at heart, and am being denied both at this point in time.

May be you have Vertigo. I understand that prob makes people

wobble. Or, maybe it's the cocktail of drugs you devour daily. As long

as you are getting proper sleep.

I like to go through Chatsworth Park, the deer herd has grown

considerably over the years, and it's possible to see a crowd of them

      most of the time..

Have you decided to go and be pampered by your sister,?

are you ready for some, any appointments to sort you out before

      your itchy feet  start up??

Don't know why I ask you any questions, you are sooooooo like

my best friend, I ask her questions that she totally ignores' which

really winds me up, so that I have to phone her and ""vent my spleen""

      waste of time really.

trying to get to Cumbria before it snows. so I can do some riding.

      Hello  jacqueline

I think most people on these BBs are just trying to be normal but perhaps inadvertently, going about it in an abnormal way. Magic bullet etc etc.

As for holes they come in many forms. Some are well laid traps, whilst ithers we did for ourselves or as I did ,justdrift  into one. Doesn't matter much now as its much too late.

I don't think its Vertigo. As I said, I believe mine is due to a renegade crystal i the canal. I need to either let it settle on its own or find somebody who can manipulate the darn thing out of harms way.

I went to Chatsworth once many years ago but it was closed. The only deer park in UK I ever wandered into was Bushy Park in London. It was the first time I had seen deer roaming free.I remember it very well.

I rode a horse once as a young man and enjoyed it though I found it a scary experience. I felt the animal sensed my discomfort and was enjoying controlling me.

You sound a bit like that. Is someone or something running your life? Sounds familiar.

      Bob

Hello. have to ask ,.what is a BB ???

No one or thing running my life  ,I do what the moment decides.

Usually it's feet first then brain later . I went to live in Southern Ireland

for quite a long time ,the best thing about that was living near the sea

5 mins away, and riding the superb beaches,. Don't follow your bit

about feeling discomfort, am I causing that, ?? Can't quite see

where that is coming from . Or if I  am totally  on the wrong track.

Horses are like people ,all different personalities and good to be

around They tend to sound people out and can usually tell if you are

a tad uneasy and so they play around with you  ,

What about these Chinese manipulators, is that worth looking into?

Or the ones that feel your head bumps, or the needles?

I think you just like taking pillsquestion

A BB is a Bulletin Board . Like a forum. Like this.

I hate taking pills butthet are all prescribed and I have so many chronic conditions Ijust do waht I am told. Until now that is.  Enough is enough. I need a review,

You don't make me feel discomfort in the least.

My mother was from Galway so I know how you feel about that place--- the sea etc etc etc.

I believe  my visit to Chatsworth was about 25 years ago and for what ever reason it was closed.

My interest in horses is confined to working on winning methodology iin horeseracing. It's a passion. Some people like gardening. I love figuring out when a trainer is working on a  a coup.I don't really plan anything either. I have lived in several countries---Canada,USA, Spain. Peru and Panama.Itchy feet. Can't help it. Maybe its the Irish in me, .

Whatever , you sound a very unhappy person.

Horse riding is not beind denied to me ,I just can't find a yard that

has any decent horses, except the one I go to in Cumbria, and getting

there is the problem, things keep popping up that have to be done

      Hospital apps  etc

You mentioned D I Y at your residence and I can relate to that.Next I misconnected your dots I think ,re Derbyshire and not being able to pursue your horseriding passion.Sorry.Thats what happens when contributors communicate indirectly in a sort of code.

The good news is that today I feel much better. So whatever the problem was, and you correctly identified Zoplicone as NOT being the issue seems to be on its way.

I assume your underlying issue is an inability to sleep soundly without Zop or similar.Mine too. By th way I hate having to take tablets. For most of my adult life I lived tab free.

My mother was from Galway. I love it there but dont think I could settle there permanently. Those enigmatic Irish !! They can't live there and they cannot keep away.

AND I wasn't being testy, sounds like a laboratory experiment !!.

Yes ,can't DROP off to sleep because of the Tinnitus. but wake up

i lived in Co Wexford big mistake . The natives were a most unfriendly

lot. from me moving in to leaving.    Whenever anyone asks me about

Ireland ,I tell them that it's nice round the edges, and to drive straight

      through Dublin   Rip off city

Right one last thing for now Could you possibly answer at least

some of the questions I ask, I'm not asking for your life story, I am

      Hello Jacqueline,

After a good start,my vertigo,or whatever it is, returned with a vengeance. I have been in bed all day trying to sleep it off.

AS you know because you have researched it Tinnitus is a bit of a mystery and often comes about after an emotional trauma. But not always. Only you will be able to unpick the clues in your your own case.

The crystal ear thing omes about when tiny particles of Calcium carbonate come together to form a crystal which floats around in the canal and somehow impacts on a membrane to cause vertigo. A manoevre called the Epley procedure,ie turning the head and neck in specific ways as conducted by an ''expert'' somehow can direct the crystal into harmless areas.

i  am back to square one.Yes I enjoy our chats too.

At least I am getting some sleep and will continue to take my Zop until I can find something better.

I am surprised about your Co WExford experience. My own has beem very different. I have lived in various countries and usually do Ok.

Hope you are O.K The crystals remark raised a thought, people who

suffer from Gout have crystals which collect around joints, usually the

big toe. There is a herbal remedy for this ,and,    It works .They are capsules

called Cherry  Effect  ,they break up the crystals fairly rapidly ,and the

answer is YES  I have had Gout ,and I don't know where it came from .

Please don't throw the old wives tale about High living  !!!!

It wasn't an experience in Wexford, it was awful, I Don't know why I stayed so long. Of course they were nice to you  Half  Irish at least.

The reasons for Tinnitus covers a wide umbrella none of which apply

to me  Loud noises No  Bang on the head ,,not one that would count

Stress, no more than any normal human has. Perhaps a tad but

not enough to knock my hearing into the Philharmonic  Few falls off

horses. My Divericulitis .I have no idea what set that off. Seems I

only collect diseases that cannot be cured, I also have a torn

tendon in my right shoulder, but non of them stop me doing what I

do, except shoving the Hoover around not my favourite sport

      Hi,

It is because there is an issue where some innocent posts get caught up in the moderation process. The problem is if a space is not left between sentences the software to "catch" links thinks the text is a link. In your post it was normal.Colombian- the .co is an internet domain so it is treated as a link as shown here. We are aware of this problem and are going to improve the software. Comfort Blanket??  No. But I  see what you think you mean. Comfort blankets are easy to obtain in Panama. I miss them all. God Bless them LOL.

Although you say you ar a Happy Bunny I detect an underlying feeling and dare I say bitterness towards something or someone.Apart from you and the horses you never include another human being. For a lady I am assuming to be physically attractive that does seem atypical.

Don't shout at me.I'm merely being observational.

WHAT have you done this time ??? Spaces again ???

It's probably because you don't answer my questionsfrown

This has to be corrected or you will be put on the Moderator's

Black list , Maybe he is a new one and being super diligent No doubt

he will tell you what you did . It's quite funny really, it appeals to my

sense of the ridiculous. Tell me you are smiling smile

      NO     Thought not !!!!

I don't know what I have done. But anyway your response did make me actually laugh out loud.

I did say something about comfort blankets always knocking at my door in Panama. Couldn't possibly be that Could it ??

Blonde ,Brunette or Redhead. ?? Can't be an animal, they can' knock!!

Do you need blankets in a hot climate ? Maybe a cold shower  would

      be  better for you

       IT'S GOOD TO LAUGH

Panamanian blankets come in rainbow colours. And yes, cold showers are a must in the humid climate.I take a least three a day.Showers that is.

But now I'm back in Uk, my appetite for these pleasures is slowing down.

A hug at times is just as effective and more satisfying in the long run.

Did I really say that? Go on then,LAUGH!!

    • Posted

Joseph's technicolour dreamcoat This is Panama.Showers are a must.

AS you say,a hug can be very effective.

Does rural Panama have showers ? Or ,do you just stand outside when it

      rains ??

    • Posted

That is a good question.I have been known to stand outside and just let it swoosh. Its wonderful.  Showers are a must.It rains a lot and I mean rain.

Then in a few minutes the sun is back and all is dry within 15 mins.

Are you having a day off from your numericals ,or is it unsafe to do

      as you are wobbling ?

You mean my racing activity?? if so yes. I am too concerned with my wobbling and a million other things. Also there is this Derbyshire lady who for some crazy reason is stimulating my grey cells.

MY MACHINE JUST CRASHED first time ever and me being a virtual

out instructions I blame you , I was in the middle of a very interesting

retort. which no doubt is now circling the stratosphere

I see that you were oblivious to my plight. By the way .does that mean

you have two of us who are scrambling your grey stuff ???

Yes.. Lets just say I/we have Cyber Dopelgangers flitting about the Universe.

Well  write your interesting retort again if you think its worth it.

As for computer virgins!!?? Now there's a  rare breed. Can't say I 've met one for a very long time. But I'm always happy to find that extinction  has not occurred quite yet.

Seriously I'm no techie. I always have to ask one of my sons to asist.

You are rubbish at being observational. You are being a bit of a Drama Queen .no bitterness not so shallow that I would sit and simmer.

This mail must be one the moderator held back, as it says you did It

      3 hors ago,

If you miss your comforters why do you keep leaving them ??

an answer is not required I can  surmise

You have spent too long with your analytical friend ,

You missed out the dogs .On the subject of humans, I have some

very good ones, other forms of humanity come and go ,and usually

want to be friends for one of two things Sadly ,I have the insight

to spot a  ""sooner " at ten paces or the eyes tell all

You are mistaken on all fronts.I understand where you are coming from

But that is how our DNA is programmed.

In my case I was enjoying the banter and thought you could dish it out and take it----in the nicest possible way.

If you dont want to talk about some matters thats OK. I know nothing about you other than what you have told me. I respect that.

I have many comforters in Panama. They are all my friends. Its not quite what you are thinkig.

TRy not being so judgemental. You do shoot from the hip without due cause.

I did tell you that I had a lateral sense of humour,,and have enjoyed the repartee , with or without my DNA poking it's nose in Giving you a gentle

nudge  obviously was taken TOTALLY out of context Shame really.

Conversation with like minded people is  one of my enjoyments ,you seem to want to departmentalise every sentence I write

. So I think this forum is over    BYE

Don't understand anything you are saying.

If you are going to respond like that I cannot see the point.

      Good luck

Just to draw a line under this.

I taught at the University there. My comforters are the internatinal set who teach alongside me. One or two would take it furthur.if I had a mind.

I have one partner there for 8 years. It cannot continue due to domestic complications here. Too complex to explain.  Never mind. Short and sweet.BYE

Your problem is you have NO sense of humour, at all. Your life stye is incidental and of no consequence to me, I was just doing a bit of leg

pulling, which was obviously out of your comprehension

You take life far too seriously for me , and as such ,you have taken the fun out of the banter, which should have remained on a light level

of two people having a pie and a pint and a bit of a laugh thrown in

Zopiclone was my reason for responding to your forum  but got out

of hand ,probably because no one else joined in.

-You are unhappy for some reason not my problem ,keep taking the

Zopiclone, at least you will not be bad tempered when you are asleep.

      Happy with my life  .Jacqueline

      Morning Jacqueline,

I have no idea what brought all this on. Bewildered is the best word to describe my reaction. One minute we are 'having a laugh' and the next you are making all kinds of incorrect judgements about me.

I enjoyed our chats because you appear to be intelligent and could chat about a variety of subjects and experiences.

I love dogs too but am predominantly a people person.

My typing is faulty due to my Glaucoma. Sorry about that.I have a thing about leaving spaces. My boys remind me all the time.

I have no interest in your lifestyle either. You seem fine with fast cars and good horses. I love travel and meeting interesting people.Money has little fascination for me. Just so that I have enough to do the things I cannot survive without.

I have an appointment with a Balance Technician tomorrow, Hopefully he can sort me out and I can then resume my normal life.

Hope you slept well. I did.
