yet I read that this is not completely true. It says as long as you continue to do you PT at home it can still improve greatly.   Does anyone else have a PT that is very pushy and seems to enjoy others pain?

    Hi

Sorry to hear that your PTi s such an Ass when it comes to your healing .I agree I think you will need to change to someone else. I had to get an MUA done because of the build up of scar tissue this happened within the first 3 weeks of my operation and only because I could not get a bend of more than 70 degrees .you will need to keep pushing yourself a little bit more every day but not to the point of extreme pain or a set time line .The most important thing is to get your leg straight as possible. The bend will come weather it is with excerise or a MUA but get that leg straight

All the best my friend hope all works out for you

Can anyone out there put a rough timescale on the possible bending?

and when might it become, for whatever reason,a decreased possibility?

    thanks.

I'm 4 weeks post bilateral knee surgery and I'm at 110 but I have to give credit to my physical therapist. Yes it hurt like hell when she would bend it and put me in a contraption that holds your knee in a bend for whatever amount of time she would say. My physical therapist is tough but to be honest because I tend to be lazy she's what I needed. Everyone is different.

I am 5 weeks post Tkr. Am still not sleeping at night. It feels pain & stiffness is now from the SCAR area. I've just started massaging the scar with Vaseline I'm told it desensitises it. Does anyone know how long this goes on for? It's driving me mad . Thanks.Eileen

I've got this too down my scar area in both knees!! The feeling is so strange. Sort of a numb, sensitive feeling; hard to describe. How long does it last?

Gosh Eizie however do you bear it in BOTH ? I don't know how long it lasts. I wish I knewWhat do you out on yours? I'm sure I'd sleep better if it would calm down. I put ice on it @ 4 times during the night..

Eileen, so I just woke up in pain, then started crying...the whole cycle. I've got to start icing again. I had given up because my ice bags were constantly falling off. So I got the ice packs my physical therapist uses. I'm 4 weeks postop surgery and I will try anything! Unfortunately, no one told me or did anyone tell you the "problems" that occur after surgery!!??

It's awful Eizie isn't it. Nobody told me what to do expect either so the recovery has come a bit of a shock. Mind you ,if I New anyone was having a TKR I wouldn't tell him them what it was like after. As it might frighten them. In a way I'm glad I didn't know. I've done 5 weeks now, mostly without sleep ,but do feel positive & it WILL improve, I have every faith . Get well soon x

So nice to talk with you. Yes I think I would be honest with someone getting it done and just say it's tough but gets better.

    Hi Baker,

You need to dose yourself up with pain meds and do your bend exercises gradually building up repetitions it then gets easier.

I am 10 weeks post tkr and having my last physio in 4 weeks time. I was concerned really time frame window and asked last week was told both flexon and extension can improve up to a year post op providing no excessive scar tissue. Whist target range - 130 in reality most people do not achieve this and that 110 is acceptable after tkr.Obiously some sports people etc would disagree. Don't get hung up this.
