My sons sleep disorder

please can you help me 😞

My 15 year old son has missed, all together months and months of school, he was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea in September ( runs in the family, dad's side) and given a CPAP machine. But even now he still will not get up in the morning, he says he doesn't remember being woken up, we have tried even putting him to school later in the morning but he feins illness, both of us work we aren't always at home. He says there is no problems at school and the school says he is doing ok apart from missing so much time. He has exams this week and I'm so worried, he won't even try to help himself, it's always a screaming match I don't know what to do 😞

He has had numerous blood tests, everything is fine, no diabetes (he is a big lad) no thyroid issues.

i can't cope with it, is he ruining his own life or could there be more too it?

This sound exactly like my 15-year-old son.  The problem is with my son is the fact that he is now 15 years old.  I think it is just a bad age. He does not have any problem getting up on Saturdays and Sundays if he has something planned.

It sounds very serious. You should get help from sleep specialists. Sleep disorder is not a fun thing, of course Plus, most normal people won't understand him and might blame him for being lazy or something.

as a 13 yr old with chronic pain who used to be like this, he could be hiding something without realising it, my unconscious mind knew i was being bullied because of this, whilst i was unaware. now i meet with the school and a pain psychologist regularly and my attendance went from 9% to 80%. Teens are very good at hiding things and coulde be being bullied for anything from social media to appearance to intelligence level, question everything. Have you talked to the school? My school offered me a quiet room at first away from everyone else and that was helpful. Are his grades Ok/ were the before? if his intellect is high ish, a little like mine (I'm not boasting), he may be bored? Or if it is lower, no offence, he may be struggling to keep up?
