My very own 'D-Day'!!!

Or should that be 'H-Day'? Well folks, it's my op today and I'll be off to the hospital in about an hour or so.  Thanks to everybody for their support and willingness to answer all sort of questions (sensible/serious and light hearted).

I will post as soon as I can after the op.

Thank you - the op went well (I think) but I caused a bit of fuss when I fainted - did anyone know that you can faint whilst lying down - well I didn't and you can.

Came to to find a room full of doctors and nurses (about 10 of them) - which is apparently what happens when you are 'coded'! Very good response from the hospital and very impressed with the staff.

Then I did it again - cause was very low blood pressure due to spinal block.

However, pleased to report that despite continuing low blood pressure, I'm fine and hope to be discharged tomorrow if I can master stairs and crutches.

Welcome to hippie hood. I had low blood pressure After my op, during the night this nurse was waking me every half hour then squeezing the drip bag and telling me to drink, put it down to morphine was ok next day.

i never knew you could faint laying down wow, see this wonderful family you have joined we all teach each other.  Hope you get the stairs sorted out ok. Oh when you get home wear sox in bed stops heels rubbing and getting sore.

Good luck with the op. Don't expect anything for the first 2 weeks - even some days you will feel pretty low as you end up feeling helpless - but do your exercises and take regular analgesia and you will soon be on the road to recovery - after 2 weeks things start to improve. I'm week 6 now and apart from working on my limp which is frustrating , I feel amazing and no pain at all - I feel like a new person after 4 years of horrendous pain. It is so well worth it in the end x
