My withdrawal progress

Posted , 11 users are following.

Hi together.

Yesterday it was my 6th night on 7.5mg of Mirtazapine (instead of 15mg). Moreover I could not take my dose on Saturday since my wife was celebrating her birthday so I had a few bottles of beer and did not want to combine it with med. What I experience so far is maybe slightly worse sleeping (really slightly worse). In this thread I would like to post my progress of withdrawal since I know many of people here go or would like to go through it as well and such threads would be very helpful for me.

My questions now:

1) did anybody experience really heavy back pain + shoulder pain + weakness in arms and palms (fingers) - all the time while on Mirtazapine?

2) did anybody experience huge volume of stool every day - all the time while on Mirtazapine?

Thank you all!

    DAY 119:

Hi together. Just a question - after skipping 1 dose, could the withdrawals develop within 2 days? Especially flu like symptom. Thank you

    • Posted

Maybe yes, for anyone who is sensitive, or anyone whose nervous system has become sensitised.

Did you forget a dose?  'Flu like' is listed as a symptom, bless you, I would think once your dose regulates you will feel better.

Unless maybe I missed the fact that you dropped the dose maybe?  Which by missing a dose, effectively thats what you did huh?

      Hi Calmer.

I missed one. On Saturday I had some alcohol and was not sleeping at home so I could not take one. Since Sunday evening I feel really awful. I also measure my body temperature but this is OK. I guess there cannot be higher body temperature caused by missed dose of mirt, right? I will see next days. Thank you for your reply

Well many folk have spoken of feeling as they have flu with wd symptoms, so  that could mean a higher temperature.  Missing one dose (are you still at 7.5mg?)  and having these symptoms is possible of course but I would say extremely unfortunate ... damn !!  Any other meds in the mix?

Push through it, its probably short term and will pass (easy for me to say yes) worrying about it will exacerbate those feelings, Mirt' always finds the weak spot in tapering I think.  LET YOUR MANTRA BE "IT WILL PASS, IT WILLL PASS, IT WILL PASS" giving it little credence.

Don't be tempted to higher the dose, can't speak of it myself but read many that just got worse.

Lots of water, at least 2 litres, treat any symptoms, so for flu paracetamol.  Most people pick up within a few days.

Maybe take Mirt' with you, an occasional drink is fine with Mirt, so no need to skip.  Not so easy with liquid, but a one nighter how about using a pill cutter ??

Hope today gets better for you.

Hi,I am tapering , I had 21 days of feeling good after a cut.I then took approx

5% less for 2 days due to reading syringe wrongly.Since then I have been

feeling rotten-nausea,lower back ache, aching legs, temp up and down,

burning feeling all over, sleepy, fatigue, headach/migraine (bad flu like

symptoms).Feeling awful for 7 days now.i am very sensitive to meds. Can

my symtoms really be attributable to my errors?

      Hi

What have been your last few cuts & by how much?  From/to?  And how long (days) have you been holding for inbetween drops?

I think for some people, its all about 'if the system has become sensitised' , whether by swapping about the AD's or upping & downing the doses, cutting benzo's at the same time, or too big a cut in the recent past.  Its a weird one how some can get through without symptoms, very few don't you think, and some sensitive to every percent.

Hope you turn around again soon.

Hi,after a week i'm feeling better -not as good as i was but on the up.I have been looking at my diary and noting the cuts i made ,how long withhdrawal lasted for,and how long i was well before the next cut.I realise now that the period i was well before a cut prob wasnt long enough (7-10 days only ) .And as you say my system has become sensitised to any changes as shown by the effect it had on me when i took lower dose for only 2 days.I intend to remain at my current dose for several months ,then start taper again.Do you think that it will help to  lessen my sensitivity?

What dose are you on now Plainden?

In reply to your very good question re 'holding for longer at that dose' and it lessen any sensitivity, it should do, definately, believe it will, it will certainly help.  Firm believer in the power of thought and strengthening our minds.

I was suprised when I read you thought the period when you felt well 7-10 days, was possibly not long enough.  It's about how we want to handle it I suppose, for me, once I feel well again I'm happy to do another drop, even though I know I could have a few more good days - but its different for me I suppose, because I've been tapering for such a long time, long journey back to life.

hi ,from 15mg start i am on 11.85mg or 0.79ml now and started taper start may -slow progress but progress it is !! (liquid mirt). At my lowest ebb last week I was so very tempted to go back up to 15mg and then start taper again at a later date but resisted.I've started,so let's just continue i kept telling myself.

Bless you, when you say lowest ebb i'll bet there was an underlying reason for that which may have been temporary ... push through, can always stay at any dose for longer when times get tough hey?

Tough for me right now, trauma hit me when home alone 22.30,  an attempted burglary, didn't get it.  One of my first thoughts was maybe having to climb up the Mirt again, but little point, having to push away the constant 'reliving' of the nightmare/stop the ruminating if poss, and stop the butterflies.  I'll do it, won't let the $%sehole beat me.

Oh no ! that's horrible. As you say the constant repetition of thoughts is awful and hard to deal esp when a "crisis" occurs. Be strong.

Thanks Plainden; I'm being strong smile

Certainlyy testing times, but hey ... "I can do it"

Best wishes, hope you're having a good day.

      Hey Calmer

You can do it buddy.... You have gone so far on your taper. A burglary is just a burglary. Your hard earned life and all the hard tapering time is more precious. Hang on there.

Hope you did not raise your Mirt. IN the end you are tapering it because it had not a good effect on you. Depression is more a personal thing medicines not always necessarily help.

      Hi Tony smile

No, pleased to say I didn't raise the dose, I had just dropped it that night so maybe not the best timing but I'd like to keep driving the taper down down down, right down to 0.01 !  Evergreen recommends this low also, not sure if you ever came across her posts, she's gives prety sound advice, as does Betsy if you come across her writings.

I am pretty shattered today mind you, but then its 3 days after a drop, along with a dose of shock, but I'll get there; thank you for your support smile

      Best wishes.
