Nausea 12 weeks after gallbladder removal
Posted , 108 users are following.
Had my gallbladder removed 12 weeks ago due to pain from 1 large stone. Had the dreaded diarrhea for 8 weeks but has settled. Have the most horrendous nausea I have ever experienced. It's worse in the mornings and I can hardly get out of bed its that bad. Some days it goes by lunchtime and I feel ok and other days it lingers until the evening and then I feel ok. Was back in hospital last week and other than a little gastritis everything is ok. My surgeon said it will go in time. I am just wondering if this happened to anyone else and how long did it take to go. Its starting to depress me now!

They have put him on several nausea medications, and that marijuana pill to help him with the appetite issue but still nothing helps. Absolutely nothing. He has been in the bathtub since about 6:30 am it is 8:30 . For some reason he says that hot water kinda helps. He hasn’t been able to work and we have four kids. This entire ordeal has been a living nightmare

I ended up seeing a psycharist who prescribed Mirtazapine for appetite and it worked. I began to be able to eat but remained very sick. The only thing that helped was time. I couldn’t rush it. In spite of Ace Johnson’s reassurance after a period of time I felt it was hopeless. That’s when depression came and is what I am dealing with now.
Your husband will recover.

For the physical element, have you tried working out or some type of exercise activity? I was extremely tired for 3 months post surgery and my general doctor said I needed to start doing physical activities. I was appalled with her initial assessment, and I initially thought she was crazy. I didn't feel like working out since I wasn't feeling well post-surgery. I wanted to at least give her plan a chance, so I started walking 45 minutes a day for 4-5 days a week. After about 2 weeks of exercising, the fatigue is completely gone. My body just needed a kick start. I am so glad I took my doctors advice.

Yes it is the worst isn’t it. I’m sorry to hear you are going through this. It is tough. What does your doctor say about the trapped wind? I feel like my doctors don’t really know how to help and there’s nothing they can do except tell you you have to give it more time to recover. I’ve tried some different anti-nausea medications but none of them have helped. We just got to keep hanging in there and stay positive that it will get better. I hope you recover soon and get to feeling better. Hang in there!

Hi, Johnette.
I have been taking iron pills, super b complex and vitamin c and Align(probiotic) to help me. I still have a lot of burping but the wind lessened a bit. I force myself to eat as I don't feel hungry.my mouth has no taste and I am weak and tired cause I cannot sleep.

Definitely, I agree with you. Let's stay positive.
As for me, I do some work around the house, take my daughter to school and get her from school. I do walk around the house and force myself to eat small meals despite I still feel sick.
Prayers and being positive is all we have.

I only ate soup and bland foods for the first few months, and lost 10 pounds along the way. My nausea was bad, so I didnt really want to eat for a few months.
Once my nausea started to subside, I was able to eat other foods. I eat normally now (4 months later), but still staying away from fatty foods and liquor. I also eat smaller meal portions, so my digestive system doesn't have to work too hard.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Glad to hear you are improving. Btw, when you were nauseous, did you ever feel hungry? Or you forced yourself to eat like us?
Keep getting better🙌

Thanks for your positive comments. We will all get better together, and slowly overcome this surgery!
The day will come when we are all back to normal.
When I was nauseous, I didn't really feel like eating; however, I would force myself to drink protein shakes, eat soup and crackers, and stay hydrated. My nausea levels would change day to day. As days passed though, the level of nausea started going down. I tried keeping logs of what exactly made my nauseous, but I didn't detect any specific signals. I believe the nausea occurred whenever it felt like coming - maybe all part of the body recovering process.

Yes, I do feel hungry, especially in the mornings and after exercising. I typically eat smaller meals.
One word of caution, don't exercise directly after eating a meal. I did a few times and I was really nauseous. My body was trying to digest food, but instead the blood/oxygen had to work hard because of the exercise. Let your food digest. The process should take at least 1-2 hours.

I am still on a bland diet. I eat bananas, rice, chicken, porridge, bread, turkey, Swiss cheese, soups. I am still feeling weak and tired since I can't really sleep normally. I eat often. But nothing else changed.

Are you still lightheaded and dizzy? You have to force yourself to eat. That's what I do. I eat every one or two hours and drink a lot of water. Do your best to walk around the house. Take Bcomplex vitamins to help with your energy. For the trapped wind try the IBGARD . IT WILL HELP.
You are in my prayers. Have a great weekend.
Be positive! We will get better.

Hi. Yes still feeling lightheaded and also sick and/or nauseous to my stomach all day long. I do force myself to eat often even if it’s just a very little. I’ve started a multi vitamin and take a fiber supplement. All of this has triggered daily migraines which doesn’t help. I’m working with a neurologist to get them under control. I’ve lost about 15 pounds. Still keeping up faith that it will get better. Are you feeling any better?
Prayers for us all to recover soon! 💜

Hi Nancy, its been 22 months for me and I'm still suffering. I've reached the point where I feel like I'm never going to feel normal. But if you took 18 months to 2 years maybe wellness is just around the corner. 😊

So sorry to hear you are still dealing with symptoms. Your time is coming. Everyone's healing is a bit different.
I will add you to my prayers.
Hang in there and be positive. Put your mind in a good place! Trust me, your time will come and you will be back to normal.
I have several friends/family that have been through the surgery, and they are living normal lives.
