Nausea 12 weeks after gallbladder removal

Had my gallbladder removed 12 weeks ago due to pain from 1 large stone. Had the dreaded diarrhea for 8 weeks but has settled. Have the most horrendous nausea I have ever experienced. It's worse in the mornings and I can hardly get out of bed its that bad. Some days it goes by lunchtime and I feel ok and other days it lingers until the evening and then I feel ok. Was back in hospital last week and other than a little gastritis everything is ok. My surgeon said it will go in time. I am just wondering if this happened to anyone else and how long did it take to go. Its starting to depress me now!

well i just left the doctors office. i had to have bloodwork done that they didnt do at the ER. plus i have to have a MRI done. she said they will probably call me by the end of the week to schedule. she looked at the ultrasound and she said it looks like my duct is dialated so i could still have a stone stuck or sludge. i should have the lab results back in a few days and i go back to the GI doc next month. She also put me on Carafate. So i guess a step in the right direction. hopefully the Carafate can provide relief.

did the GI Doctor have you do an ultrasound to see the sludge/additional stone, or were those her thoughts?
i hope the carafate works good . it worked for me right away. i will pray!
whats the MRI for ?what are they looking for?

she looked at the ultrasound i had done in the ER and saw the duct was dialated. she said the MRI is to see if there is a stone stuck or sludge in there.

i dont know what to do now. they called about my MRI and they dont bill people, i would have to pay upfront and its almost $2,000. i dont have insurance. the GI doctor said i needed this to see why my bile duct is still dialated. i feel so defeated right now.
The carafate is not working right now. i still feel very nauseous.

The carafate will take a few doses/days before your stomach lining gets coated. I didnt see the nausea go all away, but it for sure tempered the symptoms. Hang in there - it will help you. Make sure and take on an empty stomach.

ok new update on me. i got a call from my GI doctor tonight. she said my lab tests came back and i have C Diff which is a infection of the colon. she believes that is causing all my problems. i did look it up and it can cause flu like symptoms. she called in a antibiotic that i have to pick up tomorrow and take that 3 times a day for the next couple of weeks. i pray that this is the problem and i will be feeling better soon. she did say to hold off on getting the MRI. i will be updating in the next few days.

ok where do i start? i know its been a while since ive updated. i started taking that antibiotic for the infection, and it was making me worse. i had started throwing up again. On Nov 20, which was a tuesday, i almost passed out cause i couldnt eat or drink. my husband took me to the ER. they ended up admitting me for 2 days. they switched my antibiotic to another one. i went home and the day after i got sent home, i woke up and had no nausea! i was like Thank God! i had to take the antibiotic for 12 days, the whole time no nausea, my appetite came back more, i was doing great!
the day after i finished the medicine which was last tuesday, the nausea showed back up. i still have it. i feel so defeated. i went back to the GI doctor yesterday. my husband called and she was able to fit me in last second instead of waiting 2 weeks for my next appointment. i had more bloodwork done and another x ray, and she is thinking she will have to do a endoscopy where they sedate you and put a tube with a camera down your throat to see if they see anything. she is thinking i may have developed acid reflux so she put me on 40mg of Prilosec once daily. today is my 2nd day on it and so far its not helping. i pray that it does help me. im getting tired of being sick. those 9 days i didnt have the nausea where great. my GI doc thinks there was a ingrediate in that antibiotic that settled down my GI tract therefore stopping the nausea. also the nausea has switched it up. i now have no nausea during the morning and early afternoon, it comes at night now.
Im almost 11 weeks post op. i havent been back to work, and now my job is starting to get impatient with me so i might be out of a job soon.
i pray that something happens soon and i start feeling better. i just dont know what to do anymore.

I'm almost 4 months post op. I've been really sick after with loss of appetite, nausea, weakness, fatigue, lost 25 lbs. I started to feel a little better about 3 months later and started to feel hungry again and the nausea would come and go. About 3 weeks ago I developed a new CONSTANT pain in both ribs and in my upper abdomen. Its very painful and doesn't stop. Now I'm back to feeling sick all day and no appetite again. Had ct scan and bloodwork all ok. Anyone else experience pain like this that is constant? I'm getting worried because it is constant and no one else seems to have experienced constant pain like this.

Another update:
i am 12 1/2 weeks post op.
I had my upper endoscopy this past monday. i had a appointment yesterday and she already had my biopsies back. only showed mild gastritis. i mentioned that im also having insomnia and high anxiety with the loss of appetite, and nausea, and still throw up every now and then. The nausea doesnt come during the morning, it comes in the afternoon and stays the rest of the day and night until around 2am.
so my doctor put me on Mirtazapine (brand name: Remeron). she said its a anti depressant but sometimes it helps relax the stomach nerves so the nausea goes away. it is also a appetite stimulant and it helps with sleep. i started taking it last night so i pray this medicine works.
my doctor also is putting the MRI as medically nesscary so the hospital should bill me for that. have to wait for them to schedule me. she said it might be after the new year. im still waiting for word about insurance. its been 3 weeks now, but they have up to 45 days. my doctor also took me off of the prilosec as it wasnt helping.

im finally starting to feel sort of better. im 13 weeks, almost 14 weeks post op and this past Sunday, it seems the nausea has finally gone, Thank God! It has only came back a couple of times since but only late at night. So it seems the Remeron is working. It has also boosted my appetite. im still watching what i eat, but im eating more than what i was. Im still having the insomnia, as a matter of fact, its 7:35 am where i live and i havent slept yet. ill probably sleep soon. usually i sleep until 2 or 3 pm. Also have severe constipation but im taking metamucil twice a day. been taking it for 4 days now. i stopped taking the Prilosec as it wasnt working. im dealing with a little rebound acid reflux but its not bad. im also dealing with anxiety and depression issues i developed weeks ago. i still get sad so easy. im also waiting for my MRI which is in a little more than 2 weeks now. i have another doctor appointment 2 days after. i think i am going to talk to her about checking for thyroid although i may have to go to my primary doctor for that. i dont know if a GI can test for thyroid? i have been having new symptoms and i googled it and its signs of thyroid problems, which makes sense cause i found out my mom and grandma has been tested and they are in the normal range but they are high normal so they are borderline.
How are you doing?

My son is 20....had gb removed 4wks ago....symptoms were ongoing nausea/vomiting. he did great for 2 weeks after surgery then severe nausea started again. He started taking the Source Natural enzymes mentioned in the forum and they worked great...completely took away his nausea. They are giving him a ton of nervous energy and insomnia . He cant sleep or settle down at all. I feel desperate as these are the only things thats have worked for him. Ive tried reducing the dose but he clearly needs them. Has anyone else had this experience? PLEASE HELP
