Nausea 12 weeks after gallbladder removal

Had my gallbladder removed 12 weeks ago due to pain from 1 large stone. Had the dreaded diarrhea for 8 weeks but has settled. Have the most horrendous nausea I have ever experienced. It's worse in the mornings and I can hardly get out of bed its that bad. Some days it goes by lunchtime and I feel ok and other days it lingers until the evening and then I feel ok. Was back in hospital last week and other than a little gastritis everything is ok. My surgeon said it will go in time. I am just wondering if this happened to anyone else and how long did it take to go. Its starting to depress me now!

I had gallbladder surgery last June. They removed the gallbladder. Found no stones. The problems I had disappeared. No nausea, no vomiting and no foods irritated my stomach....until now. I feel sick every single time I eat and it dnt matter what it is.
I donotunderstand.
I sure hope you can get some help and get to feel better.
I will be praying for you.

I don't know why, but I have been so nauseated and sick, from my gallbladder removal, its been 4 months its just now getting worse, I had an mri it showed a lowe level dialated common bile duct? I don't know if that's my problem or yours, I feel like I'm never going to get an answer from any doctors, I eat Zofran 24-7, but its still doesn't matter. I hate my body for making me so sick. the only answer I get is post cholecystectomy syndrome, thats nothing they can do about it. but I don't understand how anybody having a good quality of life feeling like they have morning sickness every single minute of the day, everyday🤢😢

I had my gallbladder out last april 17th of 2020. The nausea started around the time my gallbladder attacks got bad and I thought perhaps I had a gallbladder issue. I had an ultrasound that showed a bunch of small stones, pain right by gallbladder too. I have a questionable fatty liver as well. I feel sick still. Everyday and all day long my nausea is bad and throat feels funny. I do get abdominal cramps and bile acid diarrhea. I am not doing well with most fatty foods. My gallbladder had no signs of inflammation. I had the biliary colic. The worst is the nausea. Feeling full sick all the time. I have had many tests to see whats wrong. My throat nausea is debilitating. I am miserable. I feel like a sick cancer patient. The only time I vomited bile was when I tried a ppi pill for three days. I get migraines a lot and ppis made it worse. I do still get lots of gas and chest pains. I tried antacids h2 blockers and ppis. None have helped. After the gallbladder came out I am not as constipated. I run to the bathroom most days afraid I won't make it in time. Smelly and many times. I am either constipated or these days more diarrhea . I think zofran don't help me for nausea. It constipates me and gives me headaches. Constipation pains are dreadful too. I used to go to the er thinking I as having heart attack until I said I think its my gallbladder and demanded a test. It was not anxiety or acid reflex but gallbladder attacks. Be your own health advocate. You know your body better than anyone. I started feeling sick chest pains nausea in 2018. Had the flu first time ever in feb 2020, and surgery april 2020. I am so sick I dread finding work. Who would put up with my illness? Its embarrassing. please help!

I have been going through the same problem back in Dec 2020 I started experiencing nausea and dry heaving no vomiting my appetite started decreasing I went to the emergency room a few times had blood drawn ct scans xrays etc doctors could not find anything abnormal except for a gallstone in my gallbladder. After several trips to the ER I was admitted to the hospital because doctors believed my gallbladder was causing me to feel unwell. While in the hospital I had an upper gi endoscopy and everything was normal except for mild gastritis. The next day Jan 20 2021 I had my gallbladder removed hoping that would take away the nausea and dry heaving I was experiencing. Here I am 5 weeks post op and I am still feeling unwell I am still experiencing nausea I still have a lack of appetite I am losing weight based on how I am eating I have to force myself to eat sometimes I also get frequent burping out of no where my sleep pattern is not the same I feel fatigued like my body is heavy all the time just a nightmare I pray to God everyday to get better I just want to feel like my old self again I am tired of running back and forth to the ER just to be told everything is normal when I know it is not normal to feel this unwell daily I have not been able to work I just feel like staying in my bed but I try to force myself to get up and moving. I am only 34 and I have never experienced anything like this before I just want this nightmare to end. I am working with a GI specialist to see if we can find a solution I have had just about every GI test and they are normal I am waiting on the results for my gastro stomach emptying test but at this point I just feel like I am on my own I have been prescribed anti-nausea meds that do not work for me I am currently taking protonix ppi 2x a day. The GI specialist believe I have severe acid reflux at this point I do not know what is causing me to feel so unwell daily this is causing me to feel depressed I just want my life back.

Hi there! I am so glad to see you got better and figured most of it out! I'm a little late to the forum but I got my gallbladder out the 2nd of March this year. I had to have it done as mine was infected. my regular doctor realized the problem very quickly. I went through all the tests and didn't have a stone. However, when they put the medicine in me to see how well it functions it was at about 92% but their scale could read my pain was high. My surgeon did an upperscoptonomy and saw it was diseased. It had gotten so bad I was unable to eat for a month and even the smell of food made me nauseous. Fortunately I haven't vomited yet but it feels like it all the time! Even now it seems to sit in my throat a good chunk of the day. I take tums and my doctor prescribed me something to help with the acid but unfortunately I lost the pill bottle somehow after only 2 days of use. When I would use it, it seemed to work for an hour and then I was back to feeling bad. I'm not sure if I need more time to see how it works or if I should try for a different medicine. The only problem I seem to have is the nausea and it seemingly in my throat. Has anyone else had this problem and how long did it last? My job is manual labor and it's really hard to do when you feel this way. I just can't wait to be back to normal.

Hello it have been almost 7 months and i still have nausea and poor appetite i am on medication for them both. The crazy thing one i take 4 times a day and the other twice a day, but the side effect is drowsiness , sleepiness, and tiredness so it is very hard for me to take the medication and work doing the day. I can tell its getting better through praying and having other people praying for me. My whole life changed after this surgery.

hi, so i just stumbled (almost literally) onto something that might help. I have insomnia/anxiety issues and after having my gallbladder removed i noticed that when i took my clonazepam my nausea from my gallbladder removal surgery went away. i only took it at night until i started thinking about why i dont have nausea at night, then i tried half a dose .25mg during the day and i'll be damned if it didn't take the nausea away. i also looked online and apparently doctors are using it in situations where Zofran wasn't working for chemo patients. Just an idea, hope it helps

Hey I just found this website. So I'm almost at 2 and a half weeks from my gall bladder surgery. So far I've been doing good 2nd and 3rd night of course hurt bad getting in and out of bed etc. I know my limits. Stomach seems to rumble alot more and not necessarily have a bowel movement don't really like that. I do have more diarrhea but not every day. My recent issue the last several mornings I wake with a bad headache and feel sick to my stomach no dry heaves, and the nausea goes away within an hour or so but the headache last all day could be the weather etc just kinda funny having the headache same days as the nausea in the morning. I ate 2 slices of pizza last week gave me diarrhea so maybe would had been ok with one slice. I'm eating mostly toasts in the mornings to start off bland and still mostly on low fat diet I've increased some fat. I ate peanut butter first time in months I won't make that mistake again it upset my stomach all night. So for the most part I am much better just getting used to all this. I'm sorry some here have had it much worse.
I had to eat a strict low fat diet for a month before had my surgery, I might go back to that for awhile and see how it goes. My Dr said I could eat anything now, but within limitations, I think when I do eat a fatty meal I'll start off with a small portion. Also it does feel different now on my right side it still hurts but kinda feels like a knot inside I guess that's everything healing.
