How do you know if you are now in menopause as opposed to perimenopause

That's a very good question. I think most doctors would tell you it is when you haven't had a period for over a year. But we are all different. I have a friend in her 70's who still gets the occasional hot flush and still get some kind of 'cycle' (twinges, non meno grumpiness, feeling very cold and SPOTS!!!! at 57
Do some research online and make your own mind up. If you go to your doctor about the nausea he will probably give you meds with side effects all of there own!

Ginger and sparkling water for the nausea. Milk seems to make it worse so I avoid milk now. But we're all different. x

Hi Michelle, you are right to stay clear of the 'stomach medicine'. It causes more problems than it fixes. I have found ginger to be really good for nausea (and upset stomach). Ginger tea, candied ginger, sushi ginger (pickled) and even ginger biscuits, all help.

The loss of appetite is ruining the fun of going out for dinner.
But funnily enough the thought of a delicious piece of battered fish and a potato scallop really appeals to me! Go figure that!!

Hi Maria;
You too with the loss of appetite? Thank God for these forums with REAL women. So sick of doctors saying nausea and no appetite is NOT a sign of menopause.
I often wonder if they get kick backs for running all these damn tests! Not ONE doctors has acknowledged nausea as a symptom - NOT ONE!
Had labs done 3 months ago and again last week. Best labs I have ever had.FSH was 108.4 and LH was 51.9. Not sure what either of those mean as she never explained so if anybody knows, please chime in. No period for 11 1/2 months.
The nausea comes in waves it seems. Feel great for a day and it comes right back. Hard to eat when you have no appetite. If this is going to last the rest of my life, take me out now. This is BS and sick of feeling sick all the time.
Anybody else have bouts with nausea, lack of appetite which is causing weight loss? Other than that I feel great outside of an occasional hot flash!

Hi Maria ,
Same , I am feeling miserably with this noisea waves , very pale , dark blue rings under eyes .
Gynecologist lady said noisea is not a menopause or perimenopause symptom.
GP lady said all blood works , colonoscopy ,gastroscopy came back normal .
Just blood test shows menopause.
Also scan shows a 5cm fibroid , under observation for 6 months and no hormone medication allowed .
Anti noisea medication just when is noisea is very intense .
Got sea bands from chemist today and some ginger capsules and give them a try see how they works .
These noisea waves just killing me , I am a night shift worker , not getting enough sleep during the day .
I was wondering if these horrible noisea will be settle down sometimes (months , years ?)can someone advise me PLEASE , many thanks

Me too have the same issues, never ending, doctors must be tired of seeing me with new symptoms or symptoms thats getting worse. Missed my periods for 5 months and it seems like the symptoms have geared up, feel sooooo miserable.

Hi. I read your post and fully empathise with you. I am 54 and have had unrelenting nausea and gastric symptoms for eight months now. CT scan, endoscopy and colonoscopy all normal. 3.5 stone wt loss. Now wondering if due to the menopause or the HRT I am taking. Making life miserable what with the digestive issues too.
