Hi everyone, After my downfall last Sat drinking two bottles without taking pill i had my first drink with pill last night, yes it stops me drinking more but I'm fed up with the side affects. It seems as i can go days without drink or pill when i do take it my mood is so low the next day i don't want to do anything makes me feel depressed. Im gong to ask my GP for Naltrexone hopefully she will prescribe to see if it agrees better with me. As i normally train wan to g to sit all day is so not me.

I’m the same, pass out quite a few nights of the week. I tried nalmefene and it was worse than hangovers. Seems the help in this country is next to nothing. About 8 years ago I started asking for help from doctors etc, said I had a problem.  And back then they’d ask if I drank in the morning and I’d respond saying of course not. And they’d say o ok your ok then. Well low and behold I’ve been morning drinking for a number of years now. Seems even if you beg for help opening there is nothing out there. Tis very upsetting  and feels helpless unless you can sort it on your own 😢

Hey Emma, i hear you the crazy thing is nobody expect my husband and kids know. I threw up this morning ate ran 6 miles swam a mile with friends i look so fit and healthy but i don't remember going to bed. I see doctors looking down we should just stop. I cry all the time. I'm drinking now and I'll still be in the pool to train 5.30am. I've found chemist in UK online so if i don't get help soon ill just buy Naltrexone.

I guess we fight to keep up appearances. I live alone so no one to directly see what goes on which I guess doesn’t help but now and again my true problem has started to show through. I force myself to work etc and stay quiet and hope I don’t look rough from heavy drinking. I’m guessing your quite thin cos of so much exercise so maybe it doesn’t take as much drink for you to black out? How old are your children? Let me know how you get on with naltrexone if you can get it. My friend he went cold turkey years ago and didn’t drink ever since. I wish I could do it like that x

''I've found chemist in UK online so if i don't get help soon ill just buy Naltrexone.''

Just so you are aware, there are absolutely no chemists that are based in the UK that will allow you to buy naltrexone without a prescription.  It IS prescription-only.  Period.

Be careful.  Some online chemists lead you to believe they are in the UK, by putting 'UK' at the end of their name, or in the website URL.  So, do your research on where the chemist is really based.

Yes I cry all the time too. The depression is unbearable. And I know the drink doesn’t help. Yet I drink more to try and cope I guess. X

I managed almost 9 months last year af but a big trigger took place and I went back to my old ways. Feeling empty, lack of future etc. I can drink a bottle and a half and black out but drink the rest. Do you think you drink coz of being down or a past event etc? X

I got Depression from drinking I was always the first to say to friends you don't need tablets go for a walk free endorphins until I could barely get out of bed I was done low. I've done things I'm not proud of I guess drinking blocked it out. I've just finished 2hr pool session and i drunk a bottle of wine last night, that's scary my tolerance is so high.

I've had my liver checked it's ok. I don't understand ether. I would have joked I'm the Geroge Best in the triathlon world but really its not funny.

    Dear Emma and Cisorium,

I have read through all your messages and I feel deeply for you. I really hope you will be able to get the medication you need to get better.

I also have days were I just simply drink too much, mostly driven by emotions, which then leads to depression the next day and then I drink because I am depressed.......a viscous circle..

Well, today is the beginning of another week. Let's make this week work for us.

I am holding thumbs for you.

    Hugs

    CK
