Neck pain

HI, still waiting for my op and I have been very poorly with bile and pain, but for the last week I've had terrible neck and shoulder pain on the left side of my body.

I have upper arm pain and shoulder pain on the right side but this new pain opposite is causing me to feel so down, has anyone else had this ? Is it associated with GB or something else wrong ????

Hi, when I saw the nurse during my pre op I mentioned a strange pain I was getting in my hip. She said that while you have troublesome gallbladder / stones you seem to get all sorts of odd pains. After surgery my hip pain had gone. Hope this helps ease your worry if not your pain.

Hi Gillypoo--I'm sorry about your pain.  I think Octavia's nurse is right:  GB gives weird pains all over the body.  I had in my upper right front shoulder that at first I thought was from the gas they use to pump up your abdomen during surgery but it lingered for over 2-1/2 weeks, then I developed pain near the surgical site which was healing very well, then a low-grade headace in the back of my neck which still comes and goes 6 weeks later, and then some hip pain.  Don't understand how this can be connected to digestive system, but from the responses here it seems to be somewhat common.  Doesn't make life easier.  I hope it gets better for you sooner rather than later!

Hi ndm thanks for your reply , I've had this over a week now and along with the pain from the stones and constant bile it's getting me down, I'm breaking into tears all the time. I just can't wait to have the op. It's not a stiff neck as I can move my head freely, it's a burning knawing pain.

Anyway how are you doing ? I know when I had my hysterectomy I had pains all over my body for weeks from the gas. Hope it gets better for you soon X

Hello every one thanks for all your support . I was second on the list the doctors were fab and the nurses . I cried all morning then when I was taken by the nurse into the theatre she was great she held my hand and sang my favourite one direction song with me to help me get off to sleep . I woke up very warm was told the operation went well but not as smoothly as they wanted it was very hard for them to remove it . I have been throwing up all day but it's all mediation I have no pain at the moment . I actually feel better already like the old me before having these awful stones , I was allowed to come home before I throw up again I just wanted to let you all know I survived and really appreciated your kind words . Will message In the morning .

That sounds just miserable.  The pain in my shoulder finally did go away.  Still having the headaches but now tylenol is helping them.  I hope you get some relief!

How wonderful that your nurse was so kind!  Despite the throwing up, it sounds like you did well.  Sometimes the second day after surgery is a little harder cuz the good meds are out of your system, so don't be surprised if tomorrow is not as easy as today.  '-)  But you are definitely on the mend!  Thanks for letting us know!

That's great news. Sorry about the sickness but have heard that it is common after the op. Hope it has settled down now. I am following this with interest as I might be having the op sometime.

It's worth having I should of had this removed ages ago in stead of mucking about due to fear . The operation didn't go as smoothly as they had hoped due to How nasty the gall bladder was it couldn't of stayed much longer in my body . I'll keep you all updated with how I'm

Feeling at the moment I'm back to my ice lolly diet I can't eat at the moment . Not so sicky today mainly pain but I feel much brighter now that's it gone I'm hoping to have a better quality of life . I'm glad I just did it I mean some people only get the odd attack but it could get worse like what happened to me so it's good to get it done ASAP x

I do not get any attacks or pain in the left side. I do get nausea, headaches and acid reflux etc. My father-in-law had one and never had any problems with it so don't know if I should wait or just go ahead with the op.
