Hey guys if anyone has any ideas to what’s wrong that could help that would be excellent. Ok, I got gastritis from some ibuprofen last year and was put on ppi’s. During the ppi treatment I noticed my stool wasn’t normal so I stopped the ppi’s. Instead of getting better slowly over this past year it kept getting worse starting from Nausea after taking any supplements that progressed to really bad bloating no matter what I eat, and now to I lost 35 pounds and no matter what I eat can’t gain any weight. No matter what I do to my diet the bloating is permentent. I’ve never had a digestive issue in my life before those ppi’s. I wake up bloated and by the end of the day the more I eat the worse it gets, im not sure what those ppi’s did but it definently started this. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Hi I've heard some bad things about PPI's you need good strong stomach acid for nutrition, have heard of Kefir ? milk and water Kefir are very strong probiotics check them out online, you can make them yourself, also check out the fodmap diet it tells you foods likely to cause gut problems and those that don't.

Hi,
I believe you doctor is right about SIBO. It is basically a baterial over growth in your small bowel which can happen after the use of PPI's as PPI's can suppress the acid in your stomach that is the only barrier your stomach has to stop the bacteria in your food to go into your intestines. SIBO can definitely cause gas and if that gas is Methane than it can cause constipation. The gas itself can cause pressure on certain nerves that can cause nausea. It can also cause leaky gut and can trigger certain auto immune disease. Ask your doctor to do a SIBO breath test and start yourself on a LOW FODMAP diet for 2 weeks to see the difference. Any thing you eat which is HIGH FODMAP would be food for bacteria and they will break it down and produce gas.
SIBO takes time but you will get better and once you get rid of it you will be back to your old self but you might need to avoid certain foods for a few months.
Good Luck!
