Need help getting off Risperdal Consta or Invega Sustenna

My son is 23. He was attending college, working part time and working out daily at the gym. He had a stressful period, and did a lot of drinking and smoking stuff that he shouldn't have been. He naturally desended into a psychotic episode. He was hospitalized briefly but recovered from it.
He went back to live with his roommates in his shared apartment. But they were afraid of him, and wanted him out, so they called the police, and claimed that he was hallucinating and had a weapon (none of which was true). The police broke into his room, handcuffed him and took him to a hospital where he received a 234mg shot of Invega Sustenna on Dec 12th 2015. It has rendered him a emotionless and physical wreck. He now sleeps at least 18 hours a day, sometimes getting up in time for dinner, sometimes not. He can bearly hold a simple conversation while he's up.
For the first couple of months he was suicidal. He kept telling me that he just wanted to die. He had and still has a severe case of anhedonia. He feels no emotion at all, other than anxiety. He doesn't like or dislike anything. He gets no pleasure from eating or seeing the sunshine, or watching something really funny on TV. He feels no satisfaction about anything and didn't look forward to anything. He's worried that he may have permanent brain damage.
We're tried seeing a different psychiatrist. But that one doesn't believe my son and thinks he needs to be on a "mood stabilizer". I think that would definitely kill him at this point.
My smart, good-looking, athletic and motivated young son now wouldn't even make a decent zombie.
Has anyone had a similar experience or have a success story about getting off the long acting Invega or Risperdal?

Try the stores like nutrition house or goodness me or order online, try Iherb[/b].com[/b], get the flush one
It causes flush so be careful with it starts with low dose for the first two three weeks then up the intake .. and try adding healthy fats in your diet .. also add other supplements high doses of vitamin c helps the brain.. so like taking 5000 mg in the morning and 5000mg at night
You’ll be alright..

I'm in the same boat as you. Just know it's not forever. You will notice improvements monthly, especially with the Niacin. Start with 500mg and work yourself up to 3,000. It's important that you sweat after dosing. A sauna would be perfect. If you can't immediately get to a sweat bath, exercise. You probably should be trying to force yourself with that anyway. Please stay positive and don't give up hope. There are many success stories.

How terible, so sorry to hear your story about your son, im 27 years old now but when i was 17 i also done to much drinking and smoking and some other substances that were not good for me. unfortunately i too went in to an episode of phychosis was arrested and put in hospital on various medications like you explained high doses too. Also even tho im 27 now, so near enough 10 years ago i also have felt all those feelings you have mentioned on medication and for all these years been on medication have felt low depressed severe anxiety, my biggest problem is as i feel so disconnected i tend to use more alcohol and illegal drugs. which now i am trying to be as strong as possible and not do. As then the consultants just believe i need the medications more and more. sadly i probably do when i take illegal drugs but i say to myself i feel im taking the illegal drugs due to feeling so terible on meds. but by my experience i would advise stay clear of alcohol and drugs and theres hopefully hope for coming off the medications. Thats in my situation but by the sounds of it your son may be stronger then me and may be able to just come off the medications but always do this gradually as the withdrawal from each reduced dose can give return symptoms or synptoms that can suggest your unwel. but most of the time that is the medications there can be strong withdraw effects, sadly im not very well atm and may need to go on a higher dose until im completely free of alcohol and drugs. but ideally i do also believe being off medication is a great feeling if done correctly. as ive tried before it does feel like your life comes back more alert aware, not stuck in fear and sadness. All the best for your son i hope things get better and you find a solution 👍

Hi play2day, it's June 2020 and I'd love an update on your son and how he fares now. 2 months ago I was injected twice (the loading dose and booster, 234 mg and 156 mg) and I'm still experiencing severe cognitive impairment, to the point of not being able to watch TV (can't process it fast enough) or read much of anything. I'll be getting a brain scan done at an Amen clinic, and I remember what you wrote about your son's brain scan being one of the worst the doc had seen. What did it show? I hope he's doing much better now and fully recovered. Thank you

@e52855 - how are you doing now? I'm in the exact same boat. I couldn't think or felt like I couldn't watch TV. The worst part is my inability to sleep. My reading is horrible. I can't remember what I read the paragraph before. I hope you are doing better now.
