I was tested positive for hsv-2 Saturday. Igg specific came back positive for . Igm came back negative. Pcr results also negative. I went my doctor appointment today an the doctor told me that I was only exposed an that I could of got it years ago but I'm not infected and that I don't have risk of ever spreading it. I just don't understand. I was tested December 2014 for hsv an it was negative for herpes . An I was only just recently with someone who was infected. Can someone please help

If you don't have active lesions then the swan test will come back negative, if you've had active lesions for a long time it could still come up negative. Igm should be ignored its not useful for the most part. How long after being with someone did you go test? If you were with someone for awhile they could have exposed you multiple times and hsv 2 if I'm the genital area sheds even without symptoms sad
