I've been on for a 9 days now. not seeing a lot of change. Take some lorazepam for anxiety. I've tried to avoid it unless absolutely necessary for anxiety.

I have had symptoms of depression for a few years, but things just seemed to crash since August. Sleepless nites, waking up with intense worry over the same things (like it's ground hog day). Regret, frustration, self judgment. Will a lot of this subside once the medication takes hold? I've always thought I was an easy going fun loving guy, but I started feeling a lot of panic and anxiety. I'm turning 60 this year too. I'm frustrated that I need medicine to be comfortable.

Yes, this is not the real you and you will get better. No one could believe i had anxiety as i was always the fun loving guy in my group of friends. I have absolutely nothing to be anxious about but it stopped me dead in my tracks for months until i first started taking sertraline. I've tried counselling, CBT, diet changes, gave up drinking, gave up smoking...tried everything. Nothing worked except the Sertraline which took a while to kick in for me. I moved up the dosages and stayed on 200mg for 16 years before it pooped out. Again, no anxiety in my life or any changes but the meds just stopped doing the job. I added Mirtazipane and after 8 weeks my life is now back again. I don't care what the so called experts say, some people definitely have a chemical imbalance through their DNA. They have no control over their chemical imbalance just like a diabetic has no control over their blood sugar regulation. Therefore, some people just have to take medication. I'm not saying that all anxious / depressed people have this problem but for a minority of people there is something in their genetic make up that means they need to start or stay on medication to live a mentally healthy life. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU AND HOPE YOU MAKE A SPEEDY RECOVERY!!

Hi Jon, did your mood improve on 200? Were you back to your 100% over those 16 years? x

Hello Ala, Yes. 100% back to normal for 16 years on 200mg. It was like i never had depression or anxiety in the first place. I just thought of it like a vitamin i took in the morning and completely forgot i was even on antidepressants. Good Luck

That's amazing Jon! I am now 5 days on 200 due to severity of my depression and I don't have any side effects really apart from worsen depression which I experienced on lower doses as well. My mood improved slightly on 150 but it wasn't enough. Fingers crossed I am nearly there x

You will do. Always staying positive. A few weeks ago i was in despair and thought i would never get well again. Now when my wife says she hates January as really depressing month after christmas and dark nights, i chuckle to myself. This is because i now love every single second of January as i am anxiety and depression free. I now whistle on the train to work and treasure not having to put up with endless sweating, stomach churns, loose bowels, pins and needles, chest pressure, shaking, crying etc etc....i have my life back again and you will too. I will never take life for granted again. You will get there.......have faith!

Thank you for your lovely reply x Are you now on Sert 200 and Mirt 15?

Sert 200 in morning and 30 Mirt before bed. Maybe i might be able to taper Sert down at some point but going to stay on this for a while.

Hi Jon, thank you for asking. It's very nice when people care... I am completing week 17 on Sert and 4th on 200. I have no anxiety and today it has been the first day I have felt nearly 70% myself all day. I still wake up with no get up and go but I believe it will change overtime. Once I am up and have my breakfast I am a bit better. Most side effects have gone apart from tinnitus but I hope it improves with time. I hope I improve more on 200 and feel 100% normal and happy self. I hope you are still good on your combo! xx

That sounds like you are really improving. Its funny how when you are totally back to normal it is hard to empathise with even how bad you felt at the time. It's then no surprise that even your loved ones and best friends cant really understand and empathise. I dont think you can truly empathise until youve experienced this and come out the other side. What doesnt kill you makes you stronger and in time this too shall pass 😃

Did it take you long to wake up feeling positve with get up and go feeling? Do you think I am awaiting for more improvements on 200 after being on it for 4 weeks? I really hope my tinninitus improves a bit the longer I am on 200. x

Yes. I am sure you will start to wake up feeling better. Try to distract yourself with exercise, music, work. Anything else to focus on and you will find that eventually you will be better again without even realising it. The key is positive thinking and acceptance that although you feel rough/listless now. in a short period you will be back to yourself. I'm not 100% yet but slowly getting there. I went for a dog walk earlier for about 90 mins and realised that my intrusive thoughts were no where near as bad as normal. You may have bad days and set backs but once on the road to recovery, you will be 100% again. Best of luck and anytime you need to talk to someone you can message me and i will try and respond asap X
