new format - I'm confused!

Hi all
I have just found this new format. I do wish things would sometimes stay the same. Are you all still out there? I feel abandoned as I rely on you all so much. Where are the emoticons etc??? HELP.
I am back on 2.5mg every day now and ESR back to normal. Planning to stay on that for a month then start the slow reductions again.
Did you see my post on old forum Eileen? About my ESR going way down low before suddenly going high?? Any explanations anyone??

Like you, I am finding this new format very hard to get used to...it took me ages to realize that others were probably having the same problem and that you all hadn't just disappeared !!!
I can't seem to find emotions either, nor can I find the way we used to be able to PM each other. Maybe it is just me, but I do think the old forum was far more user friendly......we folk with "medication brain" don't cope well with change !!!!
Love to all who have managed to get the site working.
Pauline.

Yes, everyone here is confused and not too happy with this new and "improved?" software. I understand that the emoticons and PM (private messaging) are at the top of the request list for improvements. Also, the search function doesn't work properly (at least I can't find anything).
I hope they come with a better choice of symbols, pictures or avatars for each poster. These colored snowflakes look really weird, but that's minor I suppose.
Beev, glad to hear you're doing okay on 2.5. :^)

Yes, it has been a confusing time and no we all wish the old site was back - but that is not going to happen. We are finding each other and the postings, so we will be able to help out as best we can at present.
Must have a look on the home page and see if there are some instructions on how to use the site.
Take is very slowly with the reductions it is best.ESR can go up and down for all sorts of reasons, like colds, infections etc. It is only a guideline to tell us that something is going on. So don't worry too much about it varying - it is how you feel - that is the important bit.

We're still here, even if we are tearing our hair out!! And now, just when I thought I'd cracked it - changed my password from the automatically generated 'suitable for MI5' one to my own, memorable one, got used to the awful colours, the strange set-up etc. etc. - I now find they want me to sign in everytime I read a post and want to reply. I then can't see the post I'm replying to and have to rely on memory (and we all know what a bad idea that is when you're on steroids!!). Anyway Beev, great to be back in contact and thrilled that you're feeling well. Take care and hopefully this site will resume to normal ASAP.

I noticed that the text box does not appear below a discussion thread if you're not signed in. Once you sign in and then read a post, the box will be offered. That's at least the way I see it. But it's frustrating still because I have to log in each and every time. The forum software does not remember me... and my browser is set to accept cookies. Some others are having similar problems, but it may depend on what browser you use. I use FF (FireFox), version 9. I've given up on IE a few years ago. I did try the forum with iPad and it will remember me and that I've signed in, so looks to me like a browser support issue. (iPads use Safari browser).
All for now.

Also - quick tip - from the discussion forums homepage, log in and if you click the tab 'My Discussions' you will see the threads you have posted or replied in. A nice shortcut to get to your posts.
Hope this helps,
Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that you've had to increase to 2.5 daily but It isn't at all surprising especially with all the stress you have experienced with other problems such as the water infections requiring several courses of antibiotics, etc. Good luck with the latest blood test results and do hope you are feeling more comfortable back at 2.5 daily.
A small miracle that we're all finding each other. When the new dedicated forum was first set up last year, my preference was the Pat.Exp site - my preference has now changed!!! I would love to know the reason for the change in the first place. However, I'm prepared to be patient and wait and see if at least some of the original items return: ie I would like to be able to see the post I am replying to; I would like the emoticoms back; and I would like to be able to reply to posts without having to log in each time etc.
