I have not had hip replacement yet but I did have a blood clot from ankle surgery two ish years ago and had to wrestle with those compression stockings. They are terrible to get on but I did find these tips helpful. Never get it rolled tight as you pull up. It won't unroll and be impossible to get off. I had to cut one off. Keep a scissors handy in case you get really stuck since you are alone. Also a piece of non skid shelf lining like you might use to open a jar was good for smoothing out the sock while I pulled it up with the other hand. Cut about a 6" square. Work slowly around and don't let it turn into a tourniquet. Also don't put cream on the legs. That increases the friction and stocking will get stuck. Smooth dry leg worked better. Good luck.

    hi ann,

warm welcome to the best hippies forum you can have on this journey -

no stockings for me but 6 weeks of self-injecting Fragmin -

I live alone, had 2 THR surgeries and had a home health nurse come in daily for 2 weeks (until staples were removed - then she came 3x a week) - is there some thing like this , like a district nurse, available to you?

No recliner for me either - too small space but it sounds lovely and I actually only read good things about it -
