New hip revision!! 😞

Good morning hippies. Well as some of you all know I was coming back to the hospital for a closed reduction to get my dislocated hip back in place. Well, turns out the socket was caught onto the cup and he did not want to force it so he had to cut me again only to find out the cup had loosened so he had to re do the whole thing again using different hip. New socket, cup & stem!! ??So I'm starting all over again!! But I can't put any weight on this leg for 6 weeks dr orders. He wants time for tissues to heal and bone graft to take

I am sorry to hear that you had to go through this ... but at least your surgeon was thorough and hopefully your new recovery will be smoother.

I must say that your experience has made me even more cautious as I approach hip #2 thr. Most people on the forum suggested that a dislocation would end up with us writhing on the floor ... your experience demonstrates that it isn't as dramatic as this and we should err on the side of caution when something a-typical arises. Thank you for sharing your experiences and broadening our understanding of this thr journey.

I really hope this recovery is much smoother for you. Best wishes and hugs,

    L

Thanks Linda. Yes it seems that even the slightest of things might dislocate a hip, I'm still trying to figure out how this happened. I'm leaning towards the drawer I was opening up. Oh also I don't know if I mentioned NO THERAPY for 6 weeks!! A very long road but dr said give him 6 weeks. I hope this works and I'm back to walking again!

Morning Megan! I'm doing ok. Feel a lil weak. Pain is a lil better today. Still can't move my leg out of the bed but I can going into the bed. Hard thing is not being able to put any weight on that leg. Are u talking about when hip got dislocated? If so, not really. I mean I was still getting around, exercising, but there were some exercises that became difficult and I started noticing my leg got short again. That right there should of prompted me to go to dr! But ppl assured me I was ok. That's y I say if u notice anything out of sorts or feel somethings out of sorts go to dr. I think it happened a week after I was home maybe longer. I don't remember. I was 3 weeks 1 day in when I found out. Hugs, ????. Linda

Sorry I took a while to reply back, been quite busy with everything that's going on. I try and at least go for a walk out side once a day, bed exercise at least 2-3 times a day and standing up exercise at least 2-3 days a time too. I I've always been worried about that happening to me but I can already noticed a difference compared to before. I start college soon which I am a tad nervous about too I start in two weeks. Thank-you Linda. I hope you are feeling better today? ???? X
