New hip revision!! 😞

Good morning hippies. Well as some of you all know I was coming back to the hospital for a closed reduction to get my dislocated hip back in place. Well, turns out the socket was caught onto the cup and he did not want to force it so he had to cut me again only to find out the cup had loosened so he had to re do the whole thing again using different hip. New socket, cup & stem!! ??So I'm starting all over again!! But I can't put any weight on this leg for 6 weeks dr orders. He wants time for tissues to heal and bone graft to take

    Good luck Linda!  What an ordeal.  Your surgeon is being very cautious this time which is probably a good thing.  Take care and be patient.

    I am so sorry to read this Linda.  Thank you for sharing.  I am 9 weeks post op tomorrow and feel great and it's so easy to forget you still have to be very careful .   I had little blip last weekend , I turned awkwardly and felt some pain in my hip and for a couple of days had to use one crutch as I was having pain in my operated leg. After reading your post I was really worried but It has come back right now and I am almost back to where I was.  I feel I've gone back a week in my recovery.  The thought of having to go right back to day one saddens me.   Take care and get well very soon.  Big hug.  Xx

      Aww Jennifer thanks!! Yea it's a real big bummer!! I should of done something sooner about this, but I thought o was ok. Only thing was I had noticed my leg was shorter again!! Uugghh! ?? But lesson learned!!! Really happy for you and your recovery!!! God's bless!

    did you have the hip revision already ? and if so, are you at home now?

    Aww, that sucks a bit, doesn't it ... what kind of new hardware was put in? bigger or smaller ? maybe that was not the right one to begin with ... hmm ... questions, questions ...

      Good morning Renee! Yes it was disappointing about my hip. I should of gone to surgeon sooner. I had my hip revision Thursday evening. Was in for 6 hrs! I'm still in hospital but lvg today and going to inpatient rehab. Dr does NOT want me to bear any weight for 6 weeks! Also NO exercises that will move the hip. He's being very cautious and wants the bone graft to take which he says takes 6 weeks and the soft tissue to heal. As for the hardware I know it's different than before. Not sure exactly what. I shall ask about it and get back to you. ?? I'm in a bit more pain since he had to cut me again on the side of thigh and it's been harder getting in & out of bed than the first time.       good decision to go to inpatient rehab - you will be taken care of and not so tempted to do stuff ...

      Hey Linda

      I'm so glad ur going to rehab where I'm sure they will take good care of you. I was worried that they might have to do a posterior correction so Im happy for you that it was done laterally. Good luck with the healing yet again and I'm glad ur ok. Hugs

    Poor you Linda. I have been following your story and had hoped for a better outcome for you, but it's done now and you can start getting better again.

    Take it easy and lots of rest for a while xx
