Hi, I am Ali, 35 years old Software Engineer, born and Lived in Pakistan, I had severe vertigo attacks started 10 years ago, sometime just 1 attack a year, sometime twice a year and then started happening every month. I went to ENT and they asked for MRI scan but could not find anything.

I moved to Australia 6 years ago and never had any attack or anything special, just a week ago had a minor attack of Vertigo and went to GP, he referred me to ENT and asked for hearing test.

Hearing test found severe hearing loss in my left ear, ENT specialist is almost sure it is Meniere's disease but he is not fully confident yet. I am going for MRI next week and also booked for balance tests.

No smoking or alcohol in life but big fan of salty food. I am working fine so far and taking medicines 3 times a day recommended by the ENT specialist and staying away from salty food.

I have been reading about this disease but got disappointed that there is no cure.

Any tips from your side to give me some confident?

Hi Shafaqatali. Do you still feel pressure in your ear?  The only way I know that Meniere’s is still active is this feeling of a worm writhing around in my ear. Betahistine controls it except when I lie down at night then for a while I feel it and the tinnitus tone changes and becomes pulsing. Sometimes sounds like a old motor bike engine quietly in my head. This subsides after a while and my usual whine returns. I compare it to the other ear. The whole thing is frustratingly mysterious.

I noticed my tinnitus only gets worse when I am hungry and get settled after having a meal. When I wake up early in the morning or when coming back from office, I feel loud noise and that is the time If I get sudden loud noise, I get vertigo. Few days ago after coming back from work, my daughter shouted near my left ear and that triggered vertigo within seconds.

Hi there. Try keeping a consistent eating schedule as I noticed this had an affect on my symptoms.
