New to citalopram

Hello everyone!

So today I went to the doctors after suffering with anxiety and minor depression. She prescribed me citalopram 10mg and said to take them tomorrow morning once daily. Anyone got any tips or positive feedback on these meds please as I’ve just come off sertraline as they weren’t agreeing with me. Many thanks💖

    Hi Belle,

Welcome, there are wonderful people here. I couldn’t have done this journey without them. I’m on 10 mg and it’s my 9th week. The first 3 weeks were a roller coaster ride for me. I had severe panic attacks and this drug 😇had made them disappear 😇. I’m on this for anxiety. I’m getting my life back. Keep us posted of how you are doing.

    Hi

Give the tablets time. I’ve been on them for just over a month and have found some days easier then others.  I still have weird dreams and wake up several times during the night, but others on here say they can take time to settle. Be patient.. x

You will get side effects at first but stick with it as they really do work x

I had nausea for about 9 weeks on and off but it doesnt normally last that long so dont worry . I had headaches as well .

In the beginning I was having bad side effects such as trembling and sweating.

I did not drink alcohol😱. I couldn’t even think about it. I also had to give up caffeine which really was a problem cause my headaches got worse from the caffeine withdrawal. My headaches have almost diminished. I recently went 5 days without them👍🏼. Today I had slight headache from stress at work. Keep with the pills. We are here to answer and help you.

    Belle,

Keep a daily journal. I look back and cringe now. How did I do it. It was the help of the great people here.

Hello will! I’ve been and bought a journal actually so I can track my side effects and have rants about how I’m feeling so I’m looking forward to starting that😊I’m not a big fan of alcohol or caffeine so I’m hoping I’ll be fine headache wise!

Have you tried any other SSRI’s before?

      Belle😘x

That’s great to keep a journal. I’m assuming you started the citalopram and are you taking 10mg.  How are you doing with it?

      Belle,

This is my first SSRI. I was prescribed this for anxiety. I’m on 10mg and it’s week 10 for me.

I’m on 10mg,  when I first started I took it in the morning but I switched to taking it at night. That definitely helped experience the side effects less. They weren’t too bad for me, I felt dizziness and head aches and just overall weird at first. Feeling better now, still have anxiety ridden days but in general feeling much better.
