i have recently been diagnosed with my third hiatus hernia..have had 2 failed surgies and was if anyone else has had the same oroblem.

i havd been told that i need more surgery. i am very symptomatic and would like some advice on how to handle the symptomz

    Hi been following your progress seems like your really going through it... can I ask what the 24 hour test is and what methods are used? I had a cam down my throat few years ago and swor is never have it again after how I was treated and scared me so won’t do it.... what other methods  can they use? I have bad acid stomach blows up I’m on Nezium now but heard bad things about it, I have a hernia can’t bend down can’t lift can pick my kids up can’t breath can’t lay on my back it’s horribel

      hi. well i have had the camera and thatvwas to diagnose the problem. the 24hr test is basically another test whjch consists of having tubes in in your nose and stomach for 24hr so that they can measure the amount of acid reflux . it is very unpleasant . you basically have to go home with the tube in amd connected to a monitor. it is removed 24hrs later.

      these are normally done if they are are planning to do surgery which in my case is the only treatment.

    Oh god i know I’m going to need surgery but I don’t want to go through that!! I hope u get it sorted please keep us posted....

      waiting to hear from consultant . mg surgery needs to be done by a specialist as i have had 2 failed surgeries in the past one in 2008 and the had the second one done 2010 and it has now also failed.

      feel like i have swallowed a bottle of acid today.

    I recently been to the doctors and was disgusted how they treated me! They know I have a hernia and it’s causing problems all round and they tell me it’s anxiety I originally went in for some pin on the left side of my. Heat and they tell me it’s nothing without even checking,  she said we don’t no reason to check for a blood clot you had a blood test back in November   ? Shocking so now I’m worried about that and they have now caused anxiety,  for months I been waiting for berium swallow and they said they didn’t arrange one and that because I missed my endoscopy they won’t refer me!! My Hernier is bigger my stomach blows up I can’t breath I can’t sit or lay comfortable I’m shocked! The acid at night is so painful and where I don’t sleep enough when I finally do I can’t wake up I’m so tired and I can feel the acid...... lost all faith in the nhs

      I have the same problem. Have such acid and constant pain. Am unable to lie flat and recently started been sick after meals and been having choking episodes after eating or drinking. I also feel as if I am swallowing against a lump in my throat. I basically cannot eat any heavy or solid food.

    Hi everyone. Not posted in a while. Have been very unwell with severe pain and symptom so related to hernia. It has now been confirmed that I I have a 5.5com sliding hiatus hernia and that I need my third surgery.. I also have just been diagnosed with a serious condition that causes my oseghaghus to go into spasm and causes pain like chest pain. The pain is intense and I have been in hospital for this as they did not know what it was. This condition is incurable and I will be on medication for the rest of my life. The medication used for this is medication that cardiac patients use. I am also on a strict fluid and soft food diet as as the doctors are worried about food collecting in pocket formed by the hernia and they think it is causing a blockage. So all in all not good.
