New to Mirtazapine- does the daytime sedation wear off?

Hi, I'm new to Mirtazapine, and was started on 7.5 mg, which knocked me out for two days. I tried 1/4 dose, which was still too strong, and am now on 1/8 dose. It is such a small dose, but still leaves me zonked out. I'm also on 10mg citalopram. One doc says to stay on the Mirt, to give it a chance to work. The other doc says it's such a small dose and I need at least 15mg to get any therapeutic benefit, so should just come off it. Just don't know what to do. Is anyone else on a low dose, and does the daytime sedation wear off? I can't function as I'm so sleepy, but I understand ADs take time. tx

Thanks all for the responses. I'm heading back to the doc for some fine-tuning. Finger's crossed.

Hi I've taken 15mg of Mirtazapine for over a year & there's definitely still some sedation when I get up in the morning but a strong coffee usually sorts that out. I can put up with some morning residual sedation compared to not sleeping at all like in the past. I find it's a good drug for insomnia, anxiety and depression. I have all those problems & the Mirtazapine has reduced them a lot. It's not a miracle drug as I still have the odd bad day here & there but I've had a lot more good days since being on the Mirtazapine. It still works for me after 15 months. I like the calm feeling it gives me. I take it about an hour before bedtime & I can feel the sedation start to kick in about 45 mins after taking it.
