My metabolism is great now, I can eat more and even if I eat a considerable amount of fatty foods over a couple of days I don't put on weight.
I have bipolar and my doctor put me on sodium valproate so that I could easily go off olanzipine without the heavy withdrawal side effects that olanzipine can cause. Olanzipine is very difficult drug to go off once u have been on it for a long time so be aware of this.
If u are going to continue staying on the olanzipine I would try to minimise the amount of carbohydrates u eat, too much carbohydrates like bread, pasta, cereals can put on weight. I was eating and snacking on vegies, hommous, avocado dip with raw vegie sticks like cucumber, celery or carrot sticks and salads are a really healthy snack too and fruit is as well. I tend to eat my fruit on an empty stomach like for breakfast I eat as much fresh fruit and a little dried fruit and then half an hour later I have what I want. If u mix fruit with other foods especially grains it can cause fermentation in the gut and cause weight gain. If u want to eat fruit again after having a meal u need to wait until the stomach is empty which is 4 hours after a meal.
U can eat as much fresh fruit, salad as long as it doesn't have cheese in it, and cooked vegies, not including white potatoes, as u like and u won't put on weight. This is what i did when I was on olanzipine when I felt like snacking I would sometimes make myself a salad or steam some sweet potato and melt coconut oil over the sweet potato and sprinkle some celtic salt, a simple but yummy snack. It would be good if u could exercise it will make u feel good, even if u can do some fast walking.
I wish u all the best.

If u have asthma it would be worthwhile seeing a naturopath there could be a certain food that triggers your asthma, dairy can be one of these foods and if u have low levels of zinc this can cause asthma too. Just a thought because if u could get on top of your asthma u will be able to get some good exercise, and exercise makes u feel good and increases your metabolism but it needs to be exercise where u get your heart rate up.
All the best!

Almonds stop that carbohydrate craving that's why I suggested them. I read about it online and I tried it and it works. I would find that olanzipine when i was taking it, in tAhe late afternoon I would start craving carbs and I was concerned about eating too much carbs because I know that it can put weight on.
Another suggestion of what u can snack on that i thought of yesterday is soup, u can have as much soup as u like as long as it doesn't have dairy or cream in it. I stayed away from dairy when I was on olanzipine too because I knew that i can get carried away with how much of it I eat so I ended up becoming vegan and I am so healthy now, and i feel lighter and my digestion is better.

I looked it up online and it said that the maximum amount of olanzipine u can take per day is 20 mgs a day.
I hope that your anxiety has lessened.
I discovered about 5 days ago that I have candida again. I have suffered from it off and on for the last 10 years. I need to be careful about how much sugar I consume each day. I got carried away again. Candida is in imbalance of gut bacteria, it means I have an overabundance of yeast in my gut which is fed by sugar and dried fruit. So I was suffering from anxiety at times which has been taken care of my vitamin B3 and I have been waking up with terrible anxiety which has been relieved by another natural supplement called lithium orotate.
Josie if u r still suffering from anxiety I would try a natural supplement, I find vitamin B3 works wonderfully for me. I have been able to successfully cut my sodium valproate dosage down by half, by taking a really good magnesium supplement in the morning and Vitamin B3 at lunch and dinner.

After about 15 years of being on and off it myself it eventually stopped working so I was forced to go off it, which I have been wanting to do for 5 years now.
If u are interested in a natural supplement that will help u feel more relaxed at night time I am willing to share. I have spent a lot of time researching natural supplements and I dont' run these things past my doctor. Doctors only know about drugs pharmaceutical drugs and they get incentives from pharmaceutical companies to encourage them to prescribe drugs. I have successfully cut my dosage of sodium valproate down by half by using natural supplements, eating well and daily exercise, and i had counselling for about a year to address all my issues in my relationship with my mother. If u want to get well it is not simply about focussing on the drug and expecting that to be a cure all u need to do some counselling or meditating and look deep inside yourself and find out what your issues are.
Good luck my friend.

U poor thing, I can understand and sympathise how difficult it is for you.
One thing I can honestly say is that olanzipine did not help me. I totally agree with my husband when he would say that everytime I would go back onto it after going off it for a while that it would make me irritable, it would eliminate my anxiety but I would be irritable and dull. I feel so much more lively and more like myself not being on it.
I have personally found that sodim valproate which is now prescribed for people like myself with bipolar is brilliant. It stops the high emotions that I used to suffer from. I had a psychotic attack about 18 years ago and I believe honestly that the olanzipine made me worse. I dont' recall having anxiety problems until I started using olanzipine and then everytime I would try to go off it I would have anxiety attacks and I didn't become more well, I became more mentally unwell.
Diet is soooooo important I eat wholegrain wholemeal pasta and breads I make sure that my liver is functioning well because that causes schizophrenia and various mental problems when not functioning well. Symptoms of an unwell liver are cravings for sugary foods, irritablility and fatigue and sleeping problems and digestive problems, digestive problems leads to anxiety. A healthy gut means a healthy mind.
U can cleanse your liver by having warm water with a freshly squeezed lemon first thing in the morning. U can also like I do put a teaspoon of organic cloudy, this u can buy from a health food store or some supermarkets, apple cider vinegar in my drink bottle and I drink it throughout the day. I eat grains but I eat wholesome whole grains like wholegrain oats so that I get all of the necessary vitamins and minerals, white bread and cereals made from white rice have had all the nutrients stripped from them. I eat fresh fruit and I make sure I have fresh foods like either a salad or salad sandwich and a vegie meal each day.
I have myself also found that vitamin B3 (Niacin) has really helped relieve my anxiety. I am such a believer in natural supplements, I have been for a long time. B3 relieves anxiety, bipolar disorder, alcoholism and insomnia. I don't know if u drink alcohol or not but I would be careful how much u drink too. I don't drink at all. Alchohol attacks whatever organ in the body that is not functioning well.
I really want to help u if I can Tazjosie.
I did counselling for a year with a good counsellor that did cognitive behavioural therapy with me and I felt completely comfortable telling him anything. Do u have someone in your life that is there for u that u can talk to about anything? My dad is always there for me and I am so grateful I find that talking to him really helps.
I am here for u Tazjosie. Please take a good look at your diet and take care of your liver and u might be surprised how much better u start feeling.
Oh one more thing healthy oils is so important for the liver too. Vegetable oil and any polyunsaturated oils and margarine are bad for your body and liver. Saturated oils like coconut oil, macadamia oil and palm oil are best for cooking because they have a high cooking point which means that they don't overheat and burn when this happens and u injest it is toxic. This is why so many people have heart problems because they are consuming the wrong oils. Olive oil should never be heated it has a low cooking point it should only be used unheated on salads or in spreads like hommous or dips.
Good luck my friend.

So I was thinking that it would be worthwhile u looking into this type of eating too. U see when u have digestive problems this causes anxiety, depression, mood swings it is all intercollected.
I have had enough of my mood swings and I want to have lots of energy again. I also didn't have the terrible itchy scalp and itchy skin I have been suffering from for weeks. So it was probably the wheat that was causing it. I will see tomorrow what happens because I didn't take my sodium valproate today so I will take it tomorrow and see what happens, the sodium valproate can cause itchy skin, but i will see for sure tomorrow.
Some people need to avoid wheat and gluten. I am going to try and avoid eating too much oats too, it said that I can have oats once a week so I bought myself some healthy but yummy brown rice cereal and I luv it and the kids luv it 2.
I apologise for taking so long to post a message I have had a lot going on.
I look forward to hearing from u soon.
xxxxooooo
