New to Prozac.....

Hi everyone, As the title suggests I'm new to Prozac, 1 week today to be precise. I would really like to hear some success stories (I find reading positive stories about a drug help me), they don't have to be in depth, just a simple .... 'yes they worked' 'took X amount of time to kick in' 'be prepared to feel worse at the beginning' etc etc. I know it's early days for myself but in the first week I've had one very good day but today feel pretty lousy... awful tight chest at the moment. All replies will be gratefully appreciated.....many thanks Luke

Thanks for the post Luke. I'm just getting started on my 1st trial of generic prozac & am equally in need of some encouragement! These early days are definitely a challenge for me!

hi All. I have been on prozac 30 mg for 9 months with still lots of up and downs so 4 weeks ago i increased to 40 mg. The second week i felt good but now the 3-4 week i am feeling anxious and like i will never get better. Any insight?

hi , ive just stopped it been over three months and still not even 50% but ive been on it 3 times so maybe it wont work. every time ive gone back on ive had worse side effects and this time was bad even six weeks struggling. its such a slow one to work and if it doesnt just makes it worse putting all that time into it.

im starting escitalopram and should notice something 2-4 weeks and it seems much easier on the body for side effects.

had enough of the anxiety now

when i recovered with fluoxetine it would be 8-12 weeks and thats 100%

    Hi Luke

Yes, it works, very slowly but it works. I am on week 9 and just now start to have good moments. made me feel much worse before I start to feel better. Be patient, just believe that what you feel right now it is the way your body adjusting to meds. It will get better 😃

I've been on fluoxetine aka pro Prozac for several months around 5 months I take 20 mg and about two months ago I noticed my hair was falling out in mass quantity i been to Dr three times and with no answers I have an appointment with dermatologist January 30th but I seen my Dr last Monday and she did labs and I was low in vitamin D so i goggled if I was low on vitamin D would that make my hair fall out with taking Fluoxetine yes that would make my hair fall out so be sure to have your vitamin D checked by your Dr other them that this medication does have a shelf life meaning it takes weeks to build up in your system. good luck and when ever in doubt always look up your concerns through goggle and use Mayo clinic
