I have been suffering for many years with chronic pain and was recently told that I had osteo arthritus. I asked my GP to refer me to a pain management clinic and got an appointment within two weeks! Couldnt believe it and furthermore saw the specialist today who confirmed that the reumatologists were wrong and I had fibromyalgia. I am so relieved that someone has finally recognised what I have been suffering and that I am not crazy! Doesnt help the pain knowing but does help with coming to terms with the condition.
?Does anyone know if you can apply for DLA? I am no longer working as I felt that the fatigue and pain were just too much and now at home.

Hi. I have also just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia after a few years of all my pain being put down to osteoarthritis,I had both my hips replaced in my late 40's and have not been right since I caught MRSA during my 2nd op, since then I have struggled with constant pain all over and in the last year it's got to the point where I can't hold something for any length of time without pain, I thought I was going mad at some points but now realise that I have an illness that needs treatment, I have been on al sorts of pain killers including morphine for the last year, Did you find that you could not sleep for more than about an hour without waking in pain?

Hi Jannet, I'm sorry to hear your still in so much pain, until you suffer as we are, you will never know what we are going through. I have been put onto amitriptyine as well as the morphine this was recommended by the hospital and my GP. Since the 3rd of Jan I take 30 mg about an hour before I go to sleep, I woke up the first morning after them and was a new person. I now sleep for more than 6 hrs at any one time and the pain has subsided, I go back to the Doctors at the end of the month and the plan is to reduce the morphine and increase the amitripalyne so I only need the one drug, amitripalyne is a drug used to treat anti depression but when on a small dose it stops the muddled signals that cause fibromyalgia. Maybe this is worth a try,
