No sleep at night

Is it normal with fibro to not get any sleep at all of a night? But I'm able to sleep of an afternoon. My hubby gives me total support but he is concerned with my sleeping a couple of hours of a day but not at night. Sleeping tabs have no effect whatsoever, I usually end up watching TV or reading. eek

I have the same insomnia for years. I can be up for days. It drove me nuts and made me feel worse. On sleep meds and anti depressants now. Since then sleep 5-6 hours a night. Better than nothin. I must turn down all lights computers tv and wear ear plugs for quiet peaceful surroundings. Listen to iPad in one ear on a timer which usually gets me off to sleep in 25 minutes.

I go to bed the same time every night take a warm relaxing bath. Never drink anything with caffeine after 6 Pm. Or eat food.

Anyway whatever works for you any type of routine of some type seems to help trains my stubborn brain. I was in a sleep study and that what worked for me.

Some people need to retrain their day/night circadian rhythm internal clock that system gets out of wac. It's what causes jet lag.

Anyway I hope you find what can help you thru. It takes time and patience. Once the door opens for better sleep I guarantee you'll feel like your on top of the world!

    Hi Dippy

I had trouble sleeping at night due to the pain

I visited a pain clinic and she recommended duloxetine 30mg for 3 months then increasing to 60mg although this is an antideppresant it stops my legs etc being restless and  makes you more relaxed

She also gave me Melatonin 2mg which is a herbal remedy to help sleep, I take these at 9pm  then I take  2  30mg solpadol as I go to bed with wheat bags, which then helps with the pain overnight.  I have felt so much better having solid sleep

I am 72 and still work a little as a curtain maker.  It helps to keep your mind focused on other things  rather than Poly

I hope this helps you !

Hi Wendy , are you in the uk?

Not sure we get melatonin here? Does it work for you?

      Do you have fibro?

I'm having terrible problems sleeping and need help .

Don't want to become addicted to sleeping tablets though

Melatonin is a herbal plant and is used  for helping sleep it is not addictive

      I have fibro

I worked hard yesterday power washing patios and car and I am a bit stiff and sore this morning so I have had a pain killer and will rest a little today

My doctor has said carry on working it keeps you more active and takes your mind off things

Thanks Wendy, I do try to do what I can. When I'm feeling ok I go to line dancing and the last 2 days I have cleaned out all of my kitchen cupboards. Had to keep resting but that's normal lol. For some reason I have been sleeping quite well for a couple of weeks now!!! strange!! I've had a virus for the last 5 weeks so not sure if that's why. You take care and thanks again smile
