I found the best thing to do is ring around all the chemists u can get to rather than just wait for one, mine local one keeps saying nowhere is getting it in yet other places are telling me they are getting it in slowly!

I did have my prescription with my local Boots back in May ..but nothing was happening so started ringing around and found a pharmacist in Essex who told me they get occasional deliveries I asked them why they get them and Boots dont ...he said they were just more persistent phoning orders through 3 times day ..it was a bit far from me (I dont drive) but they let me post my prescription off to them with a cheque and a SAE ..

The ones I have got from them are from Teva..

Im not able to exercise as much as I would like due to prolapsed discs and degenerative lumbar discs so these really help.

All I can suggest is ( @ Nix )take a look on google for pharmacies in your area and phone around until you find one that gets supplies

    Hi Clare927

Maybe I just need to give it a bit more time to start working then lol. Its just frustrating because I have been going to gym 4/5 times per week and eating 3 well balanced meals each day.

Yes it is really annoying. My dietition put me on the tabs in Feb and i only got my prescription 2 weeks ago. I will try to get a new presciption this week but if I cant get them for next month I will be upset.

I spoke to my nurse yesterday and she says she has been told they should be fully available by the end of september so we will see but it isnt fair for us to get them 1 month and not the next....and surely it cant do your body any good to be taking tablets one month then hitting and missing until you get another box.

    Soooooo frustrating. sad

thats my problem chantelle29, but i managed to do that without going to the gym just used stuff around the house instead (e.g stairs ) also bought a rowing exercise thing from tesco for about £6.00 that helps, due to having a small child i can nt always go to the gym so decided to do it this way. just got to keep trying and be patient i think i am going back for my weigh in on monday so we will see. hopefully i have lost something.

    Fingers crossed for you.

I hope I start losing soon, im full of doubt that they wont work.

I dnt have any children and quite enjoy going to the gym but i think its really good that you have thought of another way to fit some excersize in

Hi,after getting a prescription from my g.p for orlistat,I had exactly the same problem as everyone else has on here. I got a months supply the other day. My advice is be nice to a pharmacist and tell them about your trouble getting hold of this and that you'd like them to keep your prescription and put an order in with there regular orders. Mines was at the chemist for about 5 weeks and the pharmachist got mine by just putting them in with there regular orders! Ive lost 20lb's in 9 weeks by buying Alli while I was waiting, and now orlistat. It really does help but you have too really knuckle down eating and exercise wise! Some pharmasits wont be bothered, but just say youv'e been advised to leave it with them, then there kind of obliged to keep ordering it each day!!! Save your money phoneing/driveing round. If I can lose weight/ seriously theres hope for everyone!!!! Good luck people..

I originally left my prescription (when I first got it back in May) with my local Boots and every week I would ask if they had any in but they just kept saying they were ordering it but couldnt get it ..

it was only by phoning around that I found a really helpful pharmicist who told me that he was getting some small supplies in regularly ..

I asked for my prescription back from boots ..sent it to this other pharmacy and around 3 weeks later I had my Orlistat..

I agree that even with the orlistat you really have to watch your diet..and eat low fat and these really will give you that extra help.. unfortunately because of other medical problems and a quite a bit of pain exercise is difficult for me so these give the boost to my system to help shift the pounds.

    Hi sww1567 & Fliss,

I had the same problem, got my first prescription in Feb but only actually got a call to say it was there 2 weeks ago. So I started taking the tablets 2 weeks ago, I have been eating low fat and going to the gym 4/5 times a week. Should I be worried that I have only lost a pound? I heard they should start working really quickly and my nurse says im doing everything right because I havnt had no side effects.

Afternoon all, just to say i have had my prescription filled today at my local community hospital, and they have said that they are getting deliveries nearly every week so hopefully the rest of the nation will be getting the same soon!

    Hi Chantelle

If your nurse thinks everything is fine then it should be OK..

The first time I took these two years ago I lost two stone in the first 8 weeks ..then nothing and my GP took me off them so everybody is probably different at the rate they lose weight with them..

This time my (new GP) says I can be on them for a year at a time..

Im not able to exercise much at all just trying to be careful what I eat. Ive only been taking them a few days this time around so hopefully will see some weight loss soon.

Fender gurl ..fingers crossed that supplies are getting back to normal now!
