Normal testing and still have bad gallbladder/pain?

Is it possible to have all normal testing and still have a bad gallbladder?

Since the 1st week of sept I have been suffering from RUQ pain, nausea after meals, sometimes nausea out of the blue, pain in my right shoulder blade, fatigue, lack to no energy level, 12 lbs weight loss, pain in my right shoulder neck area, mix between constipation and diarrhea but mostly constipation and heartburn! The pain is constant and never goes away.

All of my testing keeps coming back normal. Ultrasound of the gallbladder, Hida scan (my result was 48%), Ct Scan, celiac biopsy, h.pylori, other blood work( amylase/lipase normal), endoscopy, MRI, ct of the head, pelvic ultrasound! We have also had a 2nd opinion with a GI Dr and established with a new GP and spoke to a surgeon (we have another appt 11/12)!

All testing keeps coming back NORMAL!!! (Which is good)

Can all these test still come back normal and you still have a bad gallbladder?

Has this ever happen to anyone?

Certainly I'm not the only one this is happened too! Any help is welcomed!

Same thing here!  Every test available and NO diagnosis. Stabbing pain still there. So depressed.

Hi there, I can totally relate. It's hard to function when you feel so rotten. My best advice is to go see a general surgeon, who has removed 100's of gallbladders! Dr. Kennedy in St.Albans VT was amazing, reviewed my test results, ordered HIDA (which was also mostly normal😬wink scan and I was in for surgery following week. Pain was gone immediately! Praying for you, don't give up!

My symptoms began with intermittent pain, mostly on my left side, worse after eating, nauseated, vomiting, sometimes diarrhea. I tried a keto diet and felt so sick after a high fat meal...pain became stabbing by times and was after a time, always there. Since an accident and numerous surgeries, I've taken a fair amount of medications, and they say this can be hard on gallbladder too. Hope this helps. This was just awful to go through.

Hi!  My daughter is having severe upper right abdominal pain. Hurts constantly and escalated when she eats or drinks.  She is testing negative on CT , ultrasound, HIDA scan and now MRI.  Doctors believe it is gall bladder, but can’t find anything.  I don’t know what to do - she’s lost weight.  I’m sorry you all are having the same issues.  So many people have and are suffering like my daughter.  I’m leaning towards asking them to remove her gall bladder. I hate for her to have another surgery as just

2 months ago her appendix was inflamed and they had to remove it.

And I want to add she is extremely nauseated.  On both reglan and zolfran to keep her from throwing up.

I’m so sorry! I hope she gets answers soon. Sadly, despite being sick for months now, and having had HIDA, CT, Two ultrasounds, a million blood tests I’m still having bloating, upper right side stabbing pain and now left upper side stabbing, some back pain, lethargy, reflux symptoms out of the blue when this all started etc. gluten free did help, weirdly, but I still tested negative for Celiac, so whether it’s just low fat that’s helping I don’t know. I hope she gets answers faster than me, best wishes

Hi I'm so sorry your daughter is going through this. It is awful! Perhaps to move forward with seeing a surgeon with good reviews, who has seen this before. I felt relief immediately! So,glad I had it out! It was a simple surgery too, quick recovery time. Praying for her to get some relief soon!!!

Hugs to you!!! I am so sorry.  Friday I have a surgeon appointment.  Going to just ask them to remove it for her.  Praying you will get answers soon.

Friday I am taking her to the same surgery practice that removed her appendix.  I am hoping they’ll help.  Thank you for your message and so glad you have relief now!!

Best of luck to your daughter. I consulted w a surgeon, but because there little evidence other than a slightly abnormal HIDA scan, he wouldn't do the surgery, said there was a possibility that it could make it worse as they weren't sure of the problem. Now I manage my diet to be low to medium fat and it mostly works. Good fats in limited quantities - olive & coconut oil, or just a bite or two of bad fats like cheeseburgers or pizza, but mostly avoid it. I eat more greens too. I do use either apple cider vinegar or similar products (amazon) to manage occasional flare up, its been almost 2 years since the worst. Peppermint Patties are low fat! I find that if I'm "good" most of the time, that I can slip up in small doses and be fine - like when you go to a restaurant, who knows what they put in the food, though I do try to ask. Just some ideas to try while you wait for the Dr.'s input. Good luck!

So here's the thing I learned from this blog: Don't give up! There are a high number of gallbladder removed each year by competent surgeons. They took a picture of mine and it was completely scarred and full of adhesions, despite all tests being normal. I knew something was wrong.,.I tried gallbladder flushes, cleansing, eat low fat diet, but nothing helped! Go to another surgeon! You've the right to not be in pain and feel better!!!

My problem is 4 years of chronic spasms and pain, in my right upper abdomen, near my back.

All tests show sludge in my bile duct, but no stones.

Many friends and several RNs tell me that it MUST be my gallbladder, but MDs don’t agree.

    So, I suffer on.

I cannot eat meat, corn, fats, or milk products, for sure.

I have an appointment with a GI Specialist, on Friday, this week.

I’m hoping that he will tell me what’s wrong.

Thank for the reply. You have sludge- must be gallbladder?. I have suffered 25 years with GI symptoms-GERD. Hida scan normal but mildly patchy hepatic uptake. I am very symptomatic, light stools off and on, some quick pain gallbladder area. I force myself to eat, severe fatique, feel like death always sick. Upper endo- polyps, hiatal hernia, bile in stomach. I hope GI dr has answers, let me know.
