Hi, I'm here because I have suspected glandular fever.

Last Monday night I more or less collapsed into bed freezing, I had to sleep in my clothes and slippers and couldn't move at all, I've never felt exhaustion like it. I thought I was just over tired.

The next morning couldnt move from vbed at all, nor have I been able to stay up all day since.

My glands are up in my groin, neck, behind my ears and armpits ( I can feel the pain there on and off) and my doctor today confirmed they were all up.

I've had a fever on and off.Sore throat (but not too bad, just sore).

For me it's the exhaustion and gland pains. I also have pain under my ribs, which is something I've never had before.

If I walk to the kitchen to make tea, or attempt to have a bath I'm so exhausted afterwards that I feel like I'm going to die. I get so dizzy and unsteady too sad

I was just wondering if this does sound like glndular fever or just flu? I'm having bloods done on friday.

I've had plenty of flus before, but they've never felt like this sad

    Hi everyone,

Good to hear you’re all doing well and improving steadily! Shabby, sorry To hear about your job, but as Craig says, I’m sure there is something better out there for you which will come to you in time. I’m still building up little by little after my September relapse, definitely improved but can’t really walk yet except round the house.  Hoping I can avoid future relapses as it’s a long slow process coming back from them!

Hope you all continue to enjoy growing health.

      Hey Nicky and Rosie,

Great to hear from you both and thanks so much for the kind words and best wishes. Yes still having problems with my back, it's been a hard time finding it hard to deal with it all, and I know for sure you guys know what it's like to go through tough times with this virus too.

Still thinking about you and believing that you will make a full recovery, without any doubt! Hang in there!

I've one question to ask you all!

DO YOU GET ANY BUGS THAT COME AROUND YOU? Like i constantly have a cold, a few days ok and then again like I've a cold...a sinusite-like thing. Ugh.

      Hey Nicky,

I think it's very common during glandular fever and the recovery phase to pick up other bugs easier, as your immune system is compromised and more susceptible - maybe trying some new immune boosting herbs / vitamins could be helpful - I know it's so tough hang in there Nicky, things will get better.

      Hi craig,

Thanks ill try to add some immune boosting herbs again! I've become so allergica to a lot of things that one didn't cause me any allergic reactions!

      Thanks again.

Thinking about you Nicky, oh yes do be careful with allergies and stuff I know that must make it hard to find the right things to take and check all the ingredients of everything.

      Take care

      Hi Nicky and everyone

Happy new year to you too! I wasn’t doing too well but I did a different treatment and it seems to be helping and I can walk round more now and hoping to do some work again soon part time.

      How are you doing?

      Hi Rosie,

I am feeling better, it took a good year, My daughter is still struggling at 14 months she feels tired, weak and flu like. My granddaughter is starting to feel better, she is on independent study and still feels tired, she was diagnosed last April.

Is your daughter still working? If so, I can relate to her pain. I am still pushing along. Some days better than others.

      Hi Brent,

Yes she is still working, I don't know how she does it. Sheer will power.

      Hi rosie!

So glad to know that your new treatment is effective!

I've not seen my doc from last March! Although I'm planning on going to visit her as my digestive issues are still bothering me, have lost too much weight and haven't put on any, probably my pancreas is damaged somehow 'cuz I don't assimilate fats, my last ultrasound showed nothing wrong with my liver gallbladder or biliary tract...I still get easily tired although not like last year, but in few words I have not recovered fully which doesn't necessarily mean that I don't feel better, my lymph nodes around my neck and specially under my jaw are still swollen...and life is so stressful. I'm hoping for better days.

      Hi Nicky,

It's good to hear from you, it really sounds like you have been through such an awful time with the virus. I really hope things do settle down and improve, just want to offer hope that definitely that still can happen after a long period of time. After a year by body was still quite beaten up and I thought certain aches and pains I might have to just accept, but the difference between Year 1 and Year 2 was great and this continued in the years after that. So don't give up hope, life is stressful for sure and that really impacts people who have had glandular fever very often, but it doesn't mean to say you won't still make a full recovery and get there - still believing that you will! Trusting God with your recovery and thinking about you.

Thanks Nicky! Sorry to hear life is stressful and hope you are getting some support for that side of things.  It defintely sounds like you are improving gradually - keep up the good work and make sure to include plenty of rest and enjoyment as well as jobs and work!

We are all gradually winning at it even if there are setbacks along the way xx
