Hi, I'm here because I have suspected glandular fever.
Last Monday night I more or less collapsed into bed freezing, I had to sleep in my clothes and slippers and couldn't move at all, I've never felt exhaustion like it. I thought I was just over tired.
The next morning couldnt move from vbed at all, nor have I been able to stay up all day since.
My glands are up in my groin, neck, behind my ears and armpits ( I can feel the pain there on and off) and my doctor today confirmed they were all up.
I've had a fever on and off.Sore throat (but not too bad, just sore).
For me it's the exhaustion and gland pains. I also have pain under my ribs, which is something I've never had before.
If I walk to the kitchen to make tea, or attempt to have a bath I'm so exhausted afterwards that I feel like I'm going to die. I get so dizzy and unsteady too
I was just wondering if this does sound like glndular fever or just flu? I'm having bloods done on friday.
I've had plenty of flus before, but they've never felt like this

Hi, I'm so sorry I haven't updated on here. It turns out I don't have addisons :D and it's just chronic fatigue after mono I only saw the consultant for confirmation just over a week ago, so I've been very happy that I don't have it.

No way! That's exactly the same as what happened to me! Said I definitely had it, even started me on meds then did more tests and said I didn't! Glad you are feeling relieved and very glad to hear you are ok - thanks for letting us know :-) hope they are giving you some help for the cfs x

Hey Shabby,
That is good news that you don't have addisons or anything like that. And remember for most people the post viral effects are simply that - post viral, which means that although they can go on for a long time, you do still recover and get back to your old self again - and I do believe that can and will be the case for you too - hang in there.
Thinking of you also Rosie and Caroline.....hang in there!

Hey everyone, thank you It's odd though that they think we have addisons and we have low cortisol, it makes me think adrenal fatigue is something doctors should consider a thing.

Yes, mine was low, probably still is?!? That's why I had the synacthen test. But like you, clear!!!
im been doing lots better, but yesterday and today are a bit slower, puffy neck and a bit flushed but hopefully now will pass sooner. Just shows you that the symptoms we are having are experienced by most of us, which I think is comforting. Xx

Yes it's one of the most frustrating things about post-viral illness that doctors don't get involved and we are left to try to find out how best to support our various things best ourselves... one important things for cortisol is being exposed to bright natural light first thing in morning makes levels rise then - tricky if housebound but sitting by a sunny window or in garden if poss good! Also having a good routine for sleep without naps if poss and going to bed & waking up at same time each day. My sleep routine is main thing I seem to have cracked luckily!!
Hope you're feeling bit more relaxed now Addison's ruled out x

Hello everyone
How have you all been? Any improvements?
Exactly one year ago, I started to feel sooooo weak that I couldn't even get to the toilet!!! experienced all kinds of symptoms...could I say that all my organs were under attack? Lol.
It's Been a long journey, with so much of anxiety and depression. but things have improved so much! I don't feel like I've perfectly recovered from the nasty virus, but I'm able to do alot! My main issues? Digestive system!
Hope you're doing better!

Hey Nickyyy,
im so pleased you are feeling loads better and doing lots more!! What a year we have all had, something I never want to do again!!
Im also doing loads of normal stuff now...I was tired last Nov and Dec but symptoms didn't kick in til Xmas day for me. I still want early nights and occasionally get a day or two when symptoms return but it's getting better all the time.... Another few months and I hope it's gone for good for all of us.
Lovely to hear from you

Hey Nicky,
It's great to hear from you and so pleased that you are doing a good bit better. Yes that's the kind of experience I had after a year, that I had been through the mill and starting to feel a bit better, but still not fully there yet. Just want to reassure you that things do continue to improve from this point still, until a day comes where you just pretty much feel like your old self again, in another year's time God willing you will look back and feel much better than even you did this year, and I believe that will be the way it will go from now on with God's help!!
Caroline, same goes for you too, this Christmas I really hope and pray will be a much better one for you! It's been such a tough year for you both and just pleased things are on the right track, remember recovery is still happening and things will continue to get better! Praise Jesus for recovery in our lives.

Hi Nicky,
I'm exactly like you I think. I have seen a lot of improvements. I now go for walks and go out more. I do get breathless and tired after being out though or overdoing things, but I'm way better than I was. The thing I find hard is the brain fog I experience and I don't have the stamina I once had. I have to rest after everything.
I was made redundant on Wednesday, so even though I'm really sad and worried about money, I also feel that the pressure is off a little bit. I feel that I don't have that nagging feeling and stress, but I know I'll have another sort of nagging stress soon.
Does anyone feel the slightest bit of stress makes them need to rest?
I'm so glad most of us seem to be on the mend though, its been a long journey

Hey Shabby,
Really so sorry to hear you were made redundant, that is an awful thing to happen. Just want you to know I'm thinking about you, and remember that God may well be planning something better in your life so hang in there. It is good to hear that you are seeing some improvements in your health and remember your health is the most important thing.
Yes there is a definite link between stress and the virus, so that's why it's important at this time when you've had a blow like this to be kind to yourself and not beat yourself up about it - just take each day as it comes and remember God will look after you and things will get better again.
Thinking of you and do take rest and try to keep your mind active and distracted at the moment (in a good way, do something you enjoy or visit a friend you haven't seen for a while).

Hi Caroline!!!
So good to hear from you! Yeah I still have those not perfect days too and I still go to bed early tbh!
I really hope it's gone for good for all of us in the next few weeks, next week I'll have my CT Scan results... Doc thinks i might be having chronic pancreatitis or some problem with my gallbladder 😞 still can't put on weight!
Take care of yourself dear Caroline!!!
Hey craig,
Thanks alot! you're such a nice person! Specially for your constant support! I hope you're doing better too and no longer your back annoys you!!
Mono!!!
Glad to hear from you!!! I have those days too, i try to rest more and just meditate more on those days! How's your daughter doing? I hope she's doing better too!
Shabby!
It's so nice to hear from you!!!
TALK ABOUT STRESS!!! I've been struggling alot in the last 3 months, so much stress for other stuffs! It surely makes me tired! Like I need to turn off the light and lay down right away after a stressful event!!! seems like my adrenals are off after a long period of anxiety and psychosis!
I'm sure you'll feel better soon, just hang in there and MEDITATE! so glad that you're on the recovery road too!!
