Number of Flare Ups

Can anyone share on the number of flare ups they have in a year?  I have had a flare up ( uncomplicated) almost every 6 months.  My doctor said she would rather deal with that then have surgery.  I don't know what is causing this but have stress issues dealing with anxiety/menopause issues.  The number of flare ups is scaring me a bit and I don't think its a good idea to be on antibiotics that much even though its the only thing to relieve symptoms.

Perforated bowel October 2017.  In hospital for a week on intravenous antibiotics, then at home on oral antibiotics for another 3 days.  March 2018 another 7 day course of oral antibiotics.  Have been told to phone GP for more if I feel it's necessary and not to delay taking them.  I don't want a colostomy and that's my only alternative.

After months of being symptom free, last night I had the start of a flare up, which I mitigated by drinking lots of water and taking a tylenol 500. I know what caused it. The last 2 days, I've not drunk enough water and I also ate some of my favorite pita chips, which I know is not good for a sensitive gut -- but I love them! I truly feel like this condition is like a smouldering volcano. It's always there. With the right diet and lots of water, it stays quiet -- but if I stray off course, it's gonna bubble over and cause problems.
