Numbness and at times pain in foot after Hip Replacement

Posted , 31 users are following.

If anyone can help me It would be much appreciated my father had a total hip replacement in August 2014 and after day 2 post op has experienced numbness in foot and toes and at times severe pain in that area and lower part of his leg, this keeps him awake at night. His actual hip is repairing well but has now been left with this awful discomfort.....if anyone has gone through the same or knows of anyone please advise of treatment or next steps....it's obvious nerve damage has occured. Thanks in advance.

Its been three years since your father had THR. is there any relief in that pain.. or we have to live with it.??

Hey to I’m 17 years old and just had major surgery on my hip and am experiencing numbness on the top of my foot and it hurts if it’s touched to hard kind of like a chafing pain and I have full movement in my toes but my hip itself is healing quite fine, was wondering if your dads numbness got any better.

    Hi Elizabeth

Its over 2 years since I had the left hip replaced.  Since then I have experienced numbness and shooting pain in my left foot.  I have had a nerve conduction test which reveilled damage nerves.  I have been told by the hospital and doctors that there is nothing they can do for it.

I am now on my 3rd private Physiotherapists and I am still suffering.  I am 71 years old but I will keep trying.

    All the best Brenda

Hey, Its been 6 years of this Post. My father is facing the same issue after Total hip replacement of numbness, electric shock like feeling, needle like feelings and burning sensations and due to this he can't sleep. I want to know how much time your father took to recover.
