Hi all well it's been a month since I had my thr and it's doing great , I keep on getting told off by my kids for not sitting down a lot but I can't help it , I can't stand for long anyway because of the osteoarthritis in my spine and neck , my doctor has now passed me on to a cronic pain specialist , hopefully they will help a bit with my walking and standing and let me be able to get out of my bed in the morning so my daughter can have a lie in lol xx

Glad to hear you're doing well...I think the landmark 6 weeks is the turning point when you really notice your progress...keep it up!

I haven't commented, but have followed you carefully. Just saying thanks.

Hi everyone I went for my 6 week check up at the hospital yesterday and had some X-rays done , my right hip is doing great but now I've learned as well as oa in my spine and neck I also have it in my left hip now but not as bad as my right hip was , the doc says it depends how fast the oa gets worst before they can do anything , hopefully it will be a slow progress , hope everyone is ok , I love the little talks on this site xx

    Hi Angie

Glad your X Ray was fine.

You sound a bit like me LOL I had the first THR {r} done 4 years ago and the 2nd one done Jan this year....so got 4 years. I also have arthritis in my neck and lower spine.

I hope my x ray turns pout as well as yours.....I go next Monday to see the consultant.

This has nothing to do with the THR but 4 weeks into the recovery I was doing some NHS exercises and there was a crack!!!! the leg gave way under me and I was taken into hospital. They x rayed it and said i had fractured the Greater Trochanter bone????? Nothibng they could do about it, it would heal itself but would take a long long time....what ever that is....no one would commit themselves. So home I went on 2 crutches......17 weeks later I'm more mobile and driving but still need 2 crutches for a longish distancefrown I saw my own consultant a couple of weeks after this happened and he x rayed it so 3 month later {Mon} I'm going back for another x ray. They are pretty sure I have osteoporosis.....just waiting for the reults of the scan.

    You take care

Hi does anyone else have any trouble getting out of bed in the mornings ? For the last five weeks or so the pain is unbelievable with the stiffness in mylower back , it's that bad it wakes me up at all hours in the night and I have to get up and take my meds . My left foot is constantly swollen all day and it gets so painful because of the tightness .

    Hi Angie

I'm lucky because I'm retired and dont have to get out quickly

At the minute I'm sitting at the computer with my pj's on....just about to go and get ready when I saw your post.  I'm very sore and stiff in the morning.

I get up,have a cup of tea, take my meds and dont move much for about 20 mins or so, just on the computer {in the bedroom} and give the meds time to some effect,

I'll go and get washed and dressed dressed now. Then do a few gentle exercises.

{I have my bath at night, couldnt face getting into it in the morning ...might not get outbiggrin} Gradually the really bad pains will go. as I move about.

    Love

    Eileen
