Oesphagus inflammation

Mine started with a sore tongue  but I kept getting told it was thrush my dentist eventually sent me for a biopsy and then it was diagnosed as lp. It took years to get diagnosed vaginally again kept getting told that it was thrush . If your taking ppis for acid reflux that could be causing your sore throat I get a sore throat and earache. I hope you get some answers when you go back let me know what they say . Good luck .

My doctors the same really won't discuss LP!! It was my dentist that diagnosed it, he sent me for a biopsy! When I asked my doctor about it he didn't want to talk about it!! Just said it's autoimmune!! How old are you ladies. 

I’m 55 .My dentist send me for biopsy ,I had one white patch at that time ?This was 6 months ago ,on one  cheek,3 months I was waiting for biopsy  lichen spred bit more.After  biopsy in 6 weeks waiting time for results I was very nervous ,my tongue started burning my lips inside and outside too ,this started 4 weeks ago,before I didn’t have any symptoms ,my whole mouth is  effected  now I have bad pain I my throat and earache,I’m 3 weeks on steroids,for flush my mouth I told  to my consultant in oral surgery about my throat,she  staid to me that ,I have to go back to GP,because they can look after my mouth only ,I’m in uk Manchester area.

I'm  in the Manchester area too! That's a nightmare having to go back to the doctors to then be referred again!!

Yes I went there saw a lady doctor, when I was first diagnosed I saw a man who did the biopsy!! Thanks 

I,m going to make an appointment with my gp to see if he can refer me for a second opinion.i,ve been for a smear and the nurse managed to do it although the skin is very red and inflamed and she also said it can affect the oesphagus so I don't understand why the consultant chooses to dismiss it it's so frustrating. I,ve had a feeling like food get stuck going down but the doctor says that's ANXIETY I told him the reason I,m anxious is because I feel like no ones listening to me !!

Yes smears are a nightmare Joyce! How old are you!

I know what you mean I was on antid depressants for some time! Blamed everything on anxiety!!they won't talk about it!! 

Do any of you ladies with lichen planus of the vulva and vagina have regular check ups other than smears to check for any changes .

No I don't Joyce, just see my dentist every 6 months who keeps an eye on it!! How old are you Joyce 

Yes This is the only place I have it.  I have half yearly check ups from dermatologist at the moment.

Hi Maria sorry I didn't reply sooner ended up in hospital for a week they took ten biopsies from oesophagus and stomach waiting for results on them but camera found hiatus hernia and a chronic lower stomach ulcer/errosion ! I have been in agony couldn't eat or drink for a week so they had me on a drip !! I have omeprazol pills now which is helping control the stomach acid from burning my oesophagus and mouth I asked them to test for lichen planus and they agreed it can spread into oesophagus so waiting for results xxx

Im so sorry you going through that  ,I went to GP and I have Helicobacter in my stomach,I’m on very strong antibiotics,I have patches on my throat ;condition in my mouth getting worse every day ,I have appointment in oral surgery in 2weeks time ,good luck  with your results,

Bless you I think I may have that too I'm pooing all the time !! They are testing me for that anyway ! I swish coconut oil in mouth for as long as possible it calms the olp plus it's anti bacterial so you can brush teeth with it coz toothpaste stings me xx
