Has anyone looked into bio identical hormones? If my BC route doesn't improve soon I was thinking of trying it out.

I had a horrible time with bioidentical progesterone. I felt like a basketcase. Of course, it didnt help that I wasnt low to begin with and my doctor had me on it at high levels. It made me feel so awful. Maybe if you are low, it works nice.

How did you find out they were low? My doctor won't even test because they are erratic she says.

Yes I did a lot of research, Bio identical is what a lot of the meno experts recommend.

I'm using oestrogel the main reason I chose this one is because it's easy to adjust the dosage.

It's a transdermal gel measured pump dose I'm using 2 pumps at the moment in each arm after bathing, easy enough to use three pumps or 4.

utrogestan is the progesterone first 12 days of calender month and it is resulting in a bleed from day 7 to 14.

I never liked birth control always had zero libido on it.

My libido is good on the oestrogel and goes a bit by day 4 or 5 of the progesterone, comes back a few days after the bleed.

I haven't got anything bad to say I've had no side effects the progesterone makes some women sleepy so they say take it at bedtime but I can't say it does me.

Lots of good stuff though my brain loves estrogen no more groping for the right words, not hot any more anxiety depression gone no palpitations.

Some aches and pains gone unfortunately not my shoulder pain. I still have sleep problems except for the first 8 nights on estrogen when I slept like a baby.

      CCinCal,

I took saliva testing. I ordered it on my own thru ZRT labs. My doctor was shocked when she saw my progesterone was thru the roof and estrogen was low normal. I asked to try some estrogen but she doesn't want me on anything right now sad

      Zigangie,

How long have you been on it? And did it take away most of your peri symptoms? (Sorry if you've already mentioned them on here but I'm reading so many posts I can't remember who is having what symptoms.) thanks!

Hi yes every thing better except a painful shoulder.

I've been on it for 4 months.

About 6 weeks into it for 2 weeks a worsening and return of some symptoms.

Very occasionally and very briefly I get reminders slight anxiety depression nausea but it's gone as quick as it came on, by the time I've thought oh no not again I'm fine again, I seem to feel them before it's time for my dose.

I haven't had any palpitations from the first couple of weeks and those I had then lasted only a few seconds.

No more hot and no more groping around a big blank place for words (I hated that one). So many silly little things I forget them but eg. My granny driving has gone back to how it was and peeing is normal not so often not so desperate to go right now.

I also feel very relaxed it felt strange to start with I didn't realise how horribly uptight I must have been until it started to go.

My sleep is still a problem but was perfect for the first 8 nights on it and I have not had 8 good sleeps in one go for years so wondering if a higher dose may help.

      I'm using oestrogel and Utrogestan.

Thanks so much! I will ask my gyn about it. I just started skipping placebo on BC this week but I got my period and all the migraine, low mood, cramping, etc. so even continuous method isn't giving me relief. I feel like at wits end.
