Oh yes - that is perfectly normal.

I had mine at 10am on Thursday, and could have left hospital on the Sunday, but i was delayed by a day due to failing my 'stairs test' because of my stomach upset.

Go home happy, and take it easy, I had afternoon naps when I got home for a week or so.  Whataver you do, don't push it too far.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery

Yes this normal, just make sure you take painkillers regularly, I used the first 2 weeks relentlessly take the pain killers even if the pain was mild because I was told to keep the. Pain killers up even if you feel that you softened them, even at 5 weeks I still take at night time. I was in for 3 night's but for you to come home after 2 nights you aware doing really well

Yes! In fact the tiredness which I've had since my op on 10th November is more a question of spaced outness. Also plenty of sleep whether you are knackered or not helps you recover. I am finding now that, after nearly six weeks, I have insomnia in a big way. But for you, tiredness is to be expected so soon after your op. And they've sliced your rump steak so of course it will be sore and tender. Go on taking the painkillers. I still do very occasionally. Do what feels right for you. It's a bigger op than most people lead you to believe. I hadn't expected to be so draggy but as they all say, everyone is different. You might be neither druggy nor draggy. Have a good zizz and wake up in time for Strictly, if that's your thing! Good luck.

      Sharon,

as you say, it is a big operation.

The medical profession do a great job of 'selling' it as routine, but for your body it's anything but routine.

    Welcome home darling -

wow, that was a short stay - I mean I stayed for 4 nights (additional night because I live alone) -

Ase veryone agrees, it is normal and will be for a while - if possible, just surrender and rest, rest, rest --- no need to think about exercises right now, just ankle and foot pumps to keep the circuation going ...

    stay warm and cozy

    big hug and love

Hi Vanessa I had my op on the 9th and was in hospital 9 days for various reasons and couldn't keep my eyes open at times, at other times I think I was on a high! Sleep was difficult due to pain and hospital routines.

Since I came home on Thursday I've slep most of the time! You heal while you sleep and like others have said the analgesia makes you sleep to.

    Sounds like your doing well!

Your normal hun, the excitement of coming home turns to complete exhaustion. Take it slow, you may not get much sleep so grab it when you can. The next few days will be hard but it gets better every hour. Good luck hun,  sue xx

Fantastic news Vanessa. You must be doing really well to go home after 2 nights. I am 7 weeks in and still feel a bit sore and tired. Keep taking the meds and get plenty of rest. Well done you.

I've been home for two weeks now and still try to take a mini-nap in the afternoon. Even if I only doze for five or ten mins it really helps. It's not just the op/getting around that exhausts you; being in constant pain is also exhausting and even just a little snooze when you feel you need one will help you get through.

Five or ten mins, I used to sleep for over an hour at two weeks,  then all of a sudden it stopped,  every week you find yourself doing something new, at 3 weeks i could dress my self, I was thrilled.  Now nearly 6 weeks in, went to supermarket today christmas shopping, one crutch, trolley steering in the other hand, came home knackered and achy, but i did it.  Feel like i am acheiving so much, tried to walk with out crutch but to wobbly and limp so hanging on to it for dear life.

      good for you darling ---

just don't do the leg to side exercise yet - too much pulling and still so fragile - be gentle - take your time changing positions, from laying to sitting, sitting to standing, erect your body gently and make sure you are balanced - go slowly right now -

I still have to remind myself to do this - otherwise I just do everything fast and sloppy and do a great impression of a pinguin again -

enjoy being pain free for now - give your partner a hug -
