The day after my last post was feeling a little down ( heart surgery) so after lunch laid on bed with relaxation CD. half way through went into AF and ended up in resus, again. They dosed me with beta blockers which lowered it, but a bit too much! Anyway, I spent 4 days being tested for everything and they found abnormalities in liver enzymes (ALP). They did an ultrasound which showed nothing and advised my GP to refer to gastroenterology if not clear in a week. Still on 12 mg pred. Tried to reduce to 11.5 but too painful. Seeing Rheumi mid May who wants me on methotrexate but still have raised ALP (whatever that means!). GP said to test again in a month!

Hi Whisper;  not too sure on this, but from what I do know, for there to be anything to really worry about in LFTs,  the GGT levels need to be raised as well as the ALP....both elevated means a liver prob.   If ALPs only, can be problems with Common Bile Duct at time of test, a delay in the lab in doing the work-up of bloods....there is also a link with elevated ALPs to bone density, but that needs to be followed up only if elevation is still there in follow-up blood levels, and GGT not elevated.  Regarding the "glass of Wine", maybe it would help liver to settle a bit, if you could go without until ncext levels are done???   keep us informed of all health issues,  as you are certainly having quite a few health isues at present....Bron

Hi Bronwyn, as far as I've been told its only ALP that is raised. Will ask rheumi mid May if I can have a Dexa Scan. Thank you, and still waiting for the wine!
