Everyone wants to get caught up on tasks the 1st time they feel better........then boom goes the dynamite and ouch goes the knee. I'm feeling a little better since having the knee removed and going through the 8 weeks of antibiotic infusion so Sat. I got out on my walker and dragged my bad leg around the yard checking the progress of the spring flowers. For the last two days I'm back on pain meds and ice. Why do we punish ourselves ......human nature I guess

Oh that's a shame but bet you felt great at the time just to be outside. Makes me feel better but like you said we suffer later!! 😥😥😥

As of right now, June 22. They want me off antibiotics for 6 weeks to make sure the staph hasnt returned. 5 weeks I go back for blood work and then, due to family plans , I go for the surgery the 7th week. My youngest son is getting married the weekend of the 13th and my other three are going. Its a 4 hr plane ride which means there is no way I could fly and my wifes Parkinson's has worsened to the point I don't want her to go having to depend on others. She gets easily fatigued and I'm the only one thats familiar enough with her to know when to make her stop and rest. So we're going to miss it and I have to wait an extra weekl for the kids to get back in town. Here's hoping the last six months of 2015 will show a huge improvement over the 1st half.

You definitely deserve some luck and some pain free years. You're an inspiration and so unbelievably helpful to everyone on here. Your new knee will be a breeze after everything you've been through.

Sorry you have to miss your sons wedding. I'm sure there will be enough video and photos so both you and your wife will still see all the best bits x

Thanks for the kind words. My brother in law, a tech wiz, is actually trying to set up a way to stream the service directly via internet and one of his friends is coming back a couple days afterwards with a disc full of pics. The reception is in a California vineyard so that will all be shot digitally and sent to us the next day. The reception would have been terribly hard on my wife. It will be around 100° F by then.

Wow that's warm! Glad you have all covered. I hope your wife goes on ok. My nieghbour has Parkinson's she is going to have some tests to see if she she can have this new treatment, I' m not sure what it is exactly. So we all have our fingers crossed for her.

Keep up your writing on this forum. You are an inspiration to us all.xx

That's interesting. The only newer treatment i' be heard of is DBS (deep brain stimulation) where they insert probes into the brain to slow down tremors. It is a very hit and miss deal and they told my wife she would probably be qualified for it as tremors are the least of her problems

Hers are depressiom, anxiety, severe fatigue and falling. She also just shuffles and has a difficult time with movement and recently having serious gastro problems. Just like a tkr, everybody has a different set of problems. The only thing they tell you, no one dies from Parkinson's, what they don't tell you, they die from the side effects.

Oh dear - enjoy cruise. Swelling will go. I went to London yesterday walked too much and was bad but fine today. Just put lots of oil and ice, drank lots of water and took ibrobrufen. We all have setbacks but just have to pick ourselves up again and move on

Thank you. We all have to push ourselves a little to know how much we can do. But as hubby says: " there is pushing you self and going silly" he thinks that I was silly LOL x
