On a positive note....

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd give you an update.. it's day 18 post op...I'm walking without crutches and more importantly without pain or a limp. Today I walked upstairs without having to use the banister to haul myself up..I can put on my own socks and zip up my boots!!

My scar has healed nicely. It's really neat and I'm confident it will fade to almost nothing.

I'd say its been a complete success!

So happy to hear a positive result great for you!!! I am seeing the 3rd orthopedic surgeon tomorrow. I have been thinking about THR for a very long time as I have a slight limp for a number of years and groin, knee, buttocks and thigh pain, but it is not severe and I don't have trouble sleeping, so it has been a debate whether to do the surgery or not. Good to hear results like yours, though I realize not everyone is so lucky so it creates a debate in one's mind whether to do it or not.

I couldn't have waited much longer..I couldn't walk at all without being in severe pain so my quality of life was affected on a daily basis.

I'm only 49 and my surgeon had originally discouraged me from going ahead as the chance of revision surgery is about 30% but given the extent of my pain, we agreed earlier this year to proceed. He said it was the right decision, upon seeing the deterioration of the joint during the surgery.

You'll know when the time is right.....

      Best of luck
