One month after prostate surgery good news and bad news

Posted , 16 users are following.

I am 56 years old and I just had a prostatectomy nerve sparing hopefully. Incontinence looks like it won't be an issue at all now thank God. However down below there is absolutely no reaction and I fear no hope and that scares me to death. It is deader than dead and shorter I might add , all of this I had knowledge of beforehand as a possibility but of course I was hoping that it would not happen to me. My question to anybody out there in this forum would be ... is there anyone with similar experience as me and similar age with some sort of timetable of successfully regaining sexual function. I need something to hold onto. I need hope

Three givens following surgery: incontinence, ED and a shorter penis.

As to your query on ED, I was told to go on Cialis or Levitra daily and to self stimulate for a few weeks . And then to get a pump and start using it twice a week.

Please don't lose sight of the priority: to rid yourself of PCa. Everything else - ED, penis size and incontinence - are hassles no doubt, but won't kill you.

Disclaimer: I had nerve sparing robot surgery in August. Still on one pad a day.

Barney I am 7 months out and I use my pump every night and I am close to getting my size back. I am working with the injections now but having trouble getting the right mix, but I have had couple times that it has got the old boy looking like the old days which is a good feeling. You look like you are on your way to recovery. one pad a day after a month?

Yes, one medium pad, if I limit my intake of liquids. But if I drink as I am supposed to ie more than I usually would, I use two medium pads a day.

as to the pump, do you know which brands are good? What is the best place to buy pumps?

Barney You will need to have your doctor prescribe it to you. It is a medical devise. I got mine form a pharmacy in Texas but I am sure they are all good. Kind of pricy but lot of insurance companies will pay for it. I am telling you I do it every night pump it up for a minute then release it 5 times takes about 10 minutes. Now it you want you can slide the ring on it and try sex but it just doesn’t work for me.  Get on Viagra or Cialis. It will not work for you as getting it hard, but it helps to get blood flow into the penis for healing.

Barney One other thing. Try those light absorbency pads you may need a couple or more a day but you will not even know you are wearing them. I think they work as well as the mediums. One thing we tend to do is over react to a drip or dribble. We feel it and it feels like you just lost a pint, but you really just had very little. Are you drinking any beer or wine?

Here's a question... Can you have an orgasm after vacuum pump erection

I can’t, but most men can. There are a lot of reasons but some men can’t do it I guess I am one of them. Are you married?

Thanks for the feedback. In Australia pharmacies don't sell the pumps. One has to go to sex shops to buy them.

as for medication, you are correct. I was placed on Cialis a week ago an me it daily.

you are right. We don over react. At times I

feel like I leaked  like river when in fact I barely wet the pad.

sorry my last post was garbled. I wanted to say I take Cialis daily. Not cheap at $165 for 38 tablets ( 5mg)

I have orgasms without a pump. Interestingly I have them before I get what I consider a proper erection.

You dont have to have an erection to have a orgasm. Oral, Hand or a toy works fine

No I'm not which presents a new set of problems I know but I am kind of freaking out cuz I am 5 weeks out for my surgery and it seems there is no orgasm in sight there is nothing no feeling and I used to be an expert at this LOL.

This forum is about a delicate subject and everybody that participates would like to have answers too delicate questions. We want answers that not everyone talks about including doctors. I don't think the word perverse should be used here. Just my opinion

UK has national health service. We get all the treatment and medication for nothing actually.
