One more question.... Itching labia 7 weeks post op?

Posted , 6 users are following.

Seven weeks out from a ssf and have off and on itching labia and around the entrance of my vagina. First this was mostly a burning feeling, now more often an itchy feeling. Also around the bladder area so these episodes still make me urinate more frequently. Is this normal to be feeling?

I am sorry about asking so many questions, but this is all making me really insecure.

    Hi hun

I never had this but I think you should go back to surgeon if you are worried.

Have you tried a bit of natural coconut oil around vulva area. It's very soothing.x

Hi I've called the hospital and all they are saying at hospital is that everyone heals at her own pace. So that's not really of any use unfortunately.

Well I suggest you be firm and tell them your not happy and you want an appointment with your consultant.

I have contacted mine if I've had concerns.they have to see you if your under there care.

How can they say that when they haven't seen you?

      Very unprofessional hun.

It's sure very healing.I use it as a lubricant when I feel a bit dry. It's really lovely.

It's also excellent during intercourse but I haven't got to that stage yet..still 😓 nervous lolx

I have a similar thing going on here. I think for me it is probably the dissolving Stitches.

Please don't apologize for asking Questions !! This fourm - questions and responses - has been a silver lining for a very uncomfortable cloud !

For a procedure that seems to be so common - I think I was WAY under informed about post surgery recovery.

You're right about that. I know absolutely nothing about what to expect during recovery. You say you have itching because of resolving stitches. But I don't have any stitches on the outside so I don't understand why I am itching there.

It's more like an irritating mild itch/ burn thing. The residue from the dissolving stitches leaks onto a pad

      - touching everything on the way out.

The abdominal cavity is flushed with fluid during the surgery and that has to come away.

    Hi,

This sounds very similar to the sensation I had after my hysterectomy, posterior and anterior repairs in Feb.2016.

I recovered very well but two days after arriving home I had very similar burning feeling in that area, and like you, had no stitches there.

I phoned the ward in the hospital where I’d had the op and asked for advice. I was told to keep a bottle of Witch Hazel in the fridge and apply it to the irritated area on a cotton wool pad. Didn’t work for me so phoned again. This time the nurse recommended washing the affected area gently, then drying it with low heat from a hairdryer and lying down, no pants on, and letting air circulate for 10 minutes or so. I had almost instant relief, and continued to do that a few times a day until I felt comfortable again.

Give it a try. Do hope it helps. If not, phone the ward and ask nursing sister for advice. They tend to be more informed than the doctors!

    Good luck. X

    Hi Ren,

i am six weeks post A&P with TOT and most definitely have experienced what you are.   It hasn’t been as extreme or as frequent, but when an episode started - relief came with cleansing area with warm water using a peri bottle, patting dry - using a bit of coconut oil and then laying down with an ice pack - being very still until relief would finally come.  As I didn’t have any symptoms of a yeast infection - assuming the itching and burning were side effects from both dissolving stitches and whatever liquids they used in sgy.  I think many of my stitches are just starting to dissolve as over last few days have had spotty bleeding and been a bit tender.  I have a scheduled follow up with my uro/gyn on Tuesday so will learn more then.

hang in there and advocate for yourself.  I hope you get some relief as that is a maddening discomfort!

I'm calling my GP in a minute for an appointment. See what she says.

Great....so my GP is on holiday, so I have called the hospital. At first it wasn’t even possible to make an appointment on short term. After explaining the situation I now have an appointment for coming Wednesday afternoon. Hopefully they can help me because I am getting sick and tired of it all.
