One week post LTHR advice needed

hi all, my husband joined the hippy club last Monday 18 April. He's doing ok I think. Just walking indoors with crutches at the moment. His real problem is that when he goes to bed he has to get up every hour to hour and a half to pee. He was getting up a couple of times a night before the op, but it's much worse now. He doesn't have a uti and is fine during the day. Anyone else on here had anything similar?

It was a way of life for me the first few weeks. I hated to get out of the bed to head to bathroom. I asked my wife if I could just put a bucket by the bed. She laughed, said no, said walk, and went back to sleep. It will get better It's nice to sleep through the night again

One of the things they don't tell you about, but yes it's normal, probably with all the pulling about.  I used a commode, two steps from my bed to start with and only just made it, pads for me I'm afraid for a while. Got past that now.

No lol it wasn't the pain, it was my waterworks, I couldn't hold it at all, I already had problems with incontinence but was made much worse with the op. That's my next mission, get the incontinence sorted I bought a pelvic toner biggrin

I know!! Suddenly my bladder was half the size and I had water sprouting out of me that I cannot tell you where it came from! I still have nights like that, last night being a good example where I became quite grumpy at all the disrupted sleep. 😡

Ahh, the joys lol I usually go once a night now though, occaisionally twice, and I can make it to the loo.

It took ages for mine to settle down after the second operation - sometimes I'd get a good night (just 2 or 3 trips to the loo), and other nights it would be back to the hourly trips cry.  When I mentioned it to my GP, he was very surprised, and obviously did not know it was so common.

That's where this site comes in handy, learn all sorts and helps us to have peace of mind, see docs don't know everything lol

Took me a while to settle too, didn't know anyone could hold so much. I did notice, when I went to the hospital at 3 weeks on my x-ray, there was a big ball there, it must of been my bladder. I so want my x-rays, find things like that fascinating.lol

I'm going to tell the consultant about this forum and your site Graham, maybe see if he will pass it on to patients.
