This is the worst bit, when the nerves get to you.

Once you get there in the morning the time will fly and before you know it, it will be over, no going back, just a lot of work, and a better knee. It's well worth it, we've all done it, you will too.

    Good luck.x.

Count me in with all the rest! God Bless you, your surgical Team tomorrow! ! Will be praying for you.. you will do well.. keep us posted. For me the Oxycontin worked the best for post surgery pain rather than Norco. If you allready had one knee done (think you did on your other posting) you know what worked for you.. I loved having the spinal block done. I'm a big girl too.. it went great for me. We all look forward to hearing how you are.

Hip Hip hooray to Healing well !

    I'm a R TKR from 1/24/17

Hang on tight, my friend.  Everything changes in the next 24 hours when the anesthesia is completely out of your system.

My physio in hospital said the second and third day were the toughest, as you try and do the slide exercises, and I think that was true.  I used my hands to help lift the thigh when I was doing them on the bed.  He also suggested using a tray under the foot when we got home:-))))

Oh yes!  I used this time after the op to thoroughly indulge myself!  Cake, chocolates, films, whatever!  It all helps to turn it into a positive experience:-))))

All remember from the day after my op is falling asleep & being sick!! I am never having morphine ever again!!!

The poor physio kept trying to get me up but even sat I the seat I fell asleep!!

I asked them to take it away in the end!

AH!  Was that the morphine???????  I was as sick as a dog after the evening meal and in such a deep sleep that when the doctor came round in the afternoon I thought it was the next day LOL!  I had no idea what caused that!  I was still very sleepy when I went home.  My husband was coming to pick me up just after lunch and I knew I should get dressed but HAD to have a nap before I did and he was really disappointed he had to wait for me to get dressed LOL!  But as soon as I got home the tiredness just went - strange!  But I've never been one for sleeping during the day - maybe that's it.

Thanks Chico pushed on with physio today wasn't too bad as leg still fairly numb know it's gonna be tough tomorrow but hey ho no pain no gain cryo cuff really good

Hi Marilyn I would give private care 10/10 attention to detail 2nd to none the care and compassion I have been shown is fab. No waiting around and attention and medical care around the clock x
    • Posted

Been doing slide today followed by cryo cuff and made sure I've done my 10 reps on sheet

    • Posted

Excellent:-))))))  You're off to a really good start!:-))))))

Your worst enemy is FRICTION!!!  Put a plastic bag over your foot; secure with a fairly tight rubber band or shoelace tie.  Foot will glide a lot smoother.
    • Posted

My hospital physio suggested a plastic tray - either on the bed or on a carpet if you're doing the slides from a chair:-)))

I'm so glad you've had a really good experience so far, long may it last.

I wish you a quick & pain free recovery.

Hi Chris & Marilyn was due to be discharged tomorrow but physio so pleased with progress said I could go today but bloods showing potassium low so got to stay until tomorrow

    • Posted

Ah - a similar thing happened to me - I had low salt and had to stay an extra day, so next time I'm taking individual packs of salt in and will start on them the day of the op:-))))  I'm sure your day will pass fast enough and also be pleasant enough so enjoy the rest:-))))))

    • Posted

You really are off to a flying start:-))))))  Good on you!:-)))))

I so pleased how well you're doing. Shame you have to stay in another day, but at least you're in good hands.

OR...a condom....I always considered that to be a size small...

That of course would be a Texas size comparison
