thx Helen
so the registrar rang me and went over questionnaire about pain threshold and then explained how my operation on this other hip is very different as no socket so have to make a socket etc, which I had already discussed and that's why was about to have pre op. but suppose he is just doing his job. he went on to say that they needed a ct scan and xray as 9mths since last one now, so going to get that ordered and a meeting with consultant same time,so just waiting to get appointment, but at least see things happening, but what did worry me was how he emphasised about covid so much saying if catch whilst in hospital my immune system would be down and it is something I should think about and that I would have to sign a disclaimer before op a d the tests etc. just does worry me that but, but I believe Dale had operation and out same day so hoping for same....

Hi Vickie, I had to sign disclaimer too but my only worry was staff being infected as the facility is not used for any other purpose than ops and consultancy. I was out next day, I think dale was in 3 nights, not sure. Just keep immune system up, stay away from folk and keep hand hygiene stringent, you cannot do any more, try and stay positive as you know down days bring your immune system down, it's like when you have waited months for a big jolly, you finish work and then come down with a stinking cold!! law of sod!
Keep your pecker up and keep us updated, take care
Helen

For the op that didn't happen I got a call from the consultant the night before with dire warnings about the Covid risk.
For the op that did happen I got nothing but reassurance on the infection control in the hospital from the surgeon and, to be honest, I was in so much pain I didnt much care about anything other than having the op before any further lockdowns.
In hindsight the op that didnt happen was to be in Glasgow where there is a high infection rate. I would have been discharged the day after surgery.
Both hospitals are elective surgery only.

I was in 3 days when I actually did get the op, would have been 2 but my sodium levels dropped too low again.
