Oral Lichen Planus flare up

So right now my OLP is really bad. Has anyone had same issues I have right now and if so, what treatment did you get or suggest. My ulcers in back are very inflamed in the back of my mouth ( behind back molars) and along the gums line on the side of my mouth ( inner cheek below teeth). Monday they started hurting really bad and now infected to the point that I have facial swelling, facial pain fever and dizziness. Went to the doctor and was given a high dose of antibiotics but oh my god the pain so so bad that I can't even drink water without being in pain.
I've had this since 2008 and this is the worst I have ever had. Any suggestions would be great appreciated because since starting antibiotics, fever is persisting and dizziness started.
Thank you. So desperate right now.

Ellen, the dental inserts sound wonderful! I'll tell my dentist about that. I would be willing to try them.
Thanks,
Linda

Hi Ellen not sure how the inserts would help heal tongue or cheek ulcers also I don't think I could open mouth wide enough to use them as corners are cracked n bleed !? X

Hi
So sorry to hear your OLP is so bad. I was diagnosed (by biopsy) just a couple of months ago. My dentist sent me to the dental hospital. I was given a steroid mouthwash which I have not used as i am wary of side effects. However after brushing my teeth with a regular toothpaste, i am finishing with an aloe one. After a few weeks of this and also having a couple of hygienist visits, I am much better. Having said this, i know this is a condition that varies from day to day so I can't say for sure if it is the aloe that has helped. I was also warned by the consultant that stress and illness make OLP flare and that it is really important to be proactive and that if these occur I should start to use the steroid mouthwash before it gets bad.
I hope this all makes sense. Does anyone else have views on aloe?

Hi
So sorry to hear you're in such pain. I went to my dentist who referred me to the dental hospital in London. They were brilliant. Perhaps your local dental hospital has an emergency clinic?

Hi Mary, can you clarify what merc 200 and strep remedy is? I Googled them and up pulled a Mercury 200 motor for a boat! 😁. Thank you!

My dentist didn't know what mine was. Wanted me to see oral surgeon, but I went to dermatologist. She took one look and right away knew what it was. I posted on this forum the treatment she gave.

I have OLP. My dermatologist has me on 30th blood thinner injection once a week, Chlobetasol propionate steroid gel (rub on gums and hold in mouth 15 min 3x day, then Spit out!), and 20mg doxycycline tabs 2x day. This keeps the blisters at bay but gums still inflamed in couple of spots. She also said I need to avoid nightshade plants. Potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, tobacco. Don't use tobacco, so easy. Have cut way back on others. She said would have to be off all for 3 MO to see difference. I also have lesions on my legs. I have a different steroid cream for my body and it does help a lot to reduce swelling and itching. Keeping stress at bay is very important. I can tell it makes mine worse. Aloe Vera gel is soothing inside mouth.Anybody with any other treatments?
