Orgasm issues after Urolift

Posted , 23 users are following.

Has anyone experienced orgasm issues after a urolift? I had it done about 6 months ago. Im 63 yo and in good shape. My problem is when I have sex I have a hard time reaching orgasm. Never had this problem before. Also when I masturbate I seem to unload most of my cum (which is clear) before orgasm. Fix one problem create another.....

    Good morning Thomas

Sorry your having this problem. It is hard to say what is the problem. I had the Urolift done when I was 58 I'm 63 now and still have a intense orgasm. Sex really don't have a problem. Masturbation I do have a problem sometime but it all depends how many times I cum. Sometime on the third try it take me a while or I just give up. My semen is all way a mixed cream and clear color

I don't know what to tell you because you still have your ejaculation.

There is a problem and it happen at any age a man can't ejaculate at all. I know if you don't get that kick in your head to get over that hump. You can't go. If your not turn on enough that may happen but there is a lot of communication between the groin and your brain

    Have a good dayKen

    Thomas,

I agree with your statement about fixing one problem & creating another. I had UroLift 2 years ago at age 52. Since then I have suffered from ED and never had that problem prior to surgery. After much testing, my Urologist is now suggesting that I need to go to the Mayo Clinic to see if they can figure out the problem.

The last 2 years have been tough, I have a lot of resentment & regrets that I opted to have any surgery at all. I have been assured that the UroLift did not cause the ED, but something has happened post surgery that has left me unable to achieve an erection.

Sorry that you are experiencing having a difficult time reaching orgasm, but just be glad that you can.

      Den,

Are erections completely gone or do you get a partial one? I've often wondered what would happen if the tie back went through the nerve that produces erections. Just a thought. Also this could be quackery but have you looked into low frequency shock therapy for ED? There is another treatment called the priapus shot. Again it may be quackery but if you're out of options it may be worth while looking in to

      Hi.

Yes my erections are basically gone. Every once in a while I am able to achieve a semi erection, but nothing rigid enough to achieve penetration. If try to masturbate, I have no sensation and no sign of erection, my penis stays flaccid. A few times I've had semen ooze from my flaccid penis, but no sensation of orgasm.

I had a CT scan of the pelvis a few weeks ago because I asked my urologist if perhaps a clamp went through the nerve bundle. My urologist says no, the UroLift is not affecting the nerve bundle in any way.

I have heard of the low frequency therapy, but have not looked into it.

I have spent a lot of money on every ED med (Cialis, Levitra, Viagara) and none of them produced erections, but all 3 gave me the bad side effects associated with each drug. I have also spent a few thousand on the Tri'Mix priapus shots and they can't seem to find a formula that will produce anything beyond a very flimsy semi erection.

So the next step is my urologist is referring me to the Mayo Clinic because he is perplexed and at a loss as to why I have the ED and why NOTHING I try is working to produce an erection. It is all very tiresome and frustrating and I am now on several anti-depressant/anti-anxiety meds because this has truly affected my entire quality of life.

So there is my sad, sorry story. I regret having the surgery every single day. I was fine prior to surgery with a very active and vibrant sex life, I just couldn't void my bladder without self cathing most of the time because of my enlarged prostate. I would go back to that in an instant if I could instead of this humiliation of ED. I was 52 when I had the surgery in December 2016. I'm now 54 and approaching 2 years post surgery. Needless to say the last 2 years have been a living nightmare for me. Thanks for listening and for the suggestions.

      Hi drummer10,

I could have them go in and undo the UroLift, BUT the brackets or clips on the exterior side of my prostate cannot be removed, only the other ones can. So even if I had it reversed, I would be left with pieces of it still attached to my prostate. For me, this was the worse choice I have ever made.

For all the guys out there that have had incredible success with UroLift, I say that's awesome. I just want to know what caused this sudden onset of ED. My CT scan shows the UroLift implant is placed properly and is not interfering with the nerve bundles. But I think something somehow got damaged. I'm sure you've read my post on here so no need to get into that rant.

      Thanks for your suggestion.

Geeez Den you got a crappy outcome. The priapus shot I mentioned is not the same as the Tri'Mix priapus you mention. With The priapus shot the doc takes some of your blood and extracts the platlets. He then injects the platlets into you penis. ?The platlets are SUPPOSED to help rejuvinate the blood chamber in your penis. They supposedly do these for sports injuries. Does it work, ?I haven't a clue. Google platelet rich plasma injection for more information.

      Thank you Un

This may be something DEN can talk over with his doctor. It is worth looking into.

      Thanks Again......Ken

Thanks. I will ask my urologist about it next time I go in. I found out yesterday that the Mayo Clinic does not accept my insurance, so that option is now off the table. I have sent a message to my urologist about what to do next, but I have yet to get a response. I am tired of trying everything and finding no solution.

The guys on this forum seem more informed than the doctors.

Reading about everyone and their different experiences helps keep me from totally throwing in the towel.

      Thanks for the advice.

Den I doubt your uro is going to give it his blessing but I'd like to hear what he has to say about it. I do know its not covered by insurance and there isn't much info about either procedure when you google it. That of course makes me think quackery. That said, if there are no other remedies that work it might be worth a try.

      Good morning,

I'll definitely ask him about it. If it's not covered by insurance, if he says it will definitely work, I would figure out a way to pay for it. But I would need an absolute guarantee that it would work. I just can't keep throwing money away on a solution that **may **help.

May I ask your age? And are in the U.S. or the UK?

      Den -

I had urolift in my mid 60's and I was very disappointed with the results initially. Besides getting terrible bladder infection that kept me down for a couple weeks, I found it was hard to get and sustain an erection. Even 3 months later I could barely stay hard enough to masturbate (or be masturbated - more embarrassing). Half the time I would give up and the other half of hte time I was cumming when I was only half-hard.

I figured I had nothing to lose and bought a $25 penis pump on amazon - not really sure what they were suppose to do. I originally thought it was to help the masturbating procedure but realized people use it for all kinds of things. I used it it solely to retrain my penis on how to get hard and stay hard. I would do it for 5-7 minutes every morning and evening. It may sound inconvenient, but I have to say it felt life reaffirming to be standing in front of the bath mirror looking at a hard penis twice a day. Then my lady friend introduced a rubber c**k-ring that I'd put around my penis and balls before sticking my penis in the pump - sounds scary but actually felt pretty good to this old conservative man. The ring allowed my penis to stay very hard after I removed my penis from the pump. In no time I was back to insertion and masturbation with no issues. In fact my significant other likes me to wear the ring as often as possible because I stay harder, longer.

If I know I'm going to have a busy weekend I sometimes take a half of a generic Cialis (Tadalafil) as a whole one does give me headaches the first day. The half one starts pretty quickly after ingesting and lasts me for 2-3 days easy and after the first orgasm the headaches dissipate.

As I look back I realize some of the problem was in my head. The more times I failed to get and stay hard the more times I went into it expecting that to happen. After a couple weeks of seeing my penis hard I broke through that barrier and now don't think about it any more. I sometimes use the pump for the hell of it - maybe once a month. Luckily my partner enjoys helping me play with it as she's pretty open about sex.

In no way do I want to trivialize your issue if in fact it is a medical / physical problem. But after 3-4 months I was truly convinced mine was a physical issue and then discovered it was not.

If this doesn't help you, hopefully my past frustration and solution will benefit some other male with similar issues.

      Good evening Leon

What happen to Den is a shame but he is the only guy that this has happen to in the 8 years Urolift was around . The clips have nothing to do with the nerve bundles. I hope they find out what happen.

Mine as been good for going on 4 years Have a good day....Ken

YES, what happened to me is apparently a huge mystery that no one has an answer for.

My urologist referred me to the Mayo Clinic, but I found out today that they do not accept my insurance, so I'm not sure what the next step will be.

I'm angry and frustrated and I feel someone is not being 100% truthful about my situation. IF I ever find out what caused my ED and if it resulted from surgery, i will take appropriate legal action. But for now all i can do is be filled with regret over my decision to ever let someone mess around with my prostate.

      Hey Den

Yes that is true. I hope they find some place else they can refer you to so they can get down to what the HE?? is going on. I feel the same way I would take legal action to.

      Good luck.....Ken

      Dear Buddy Ken!

Here I go again.... I start these conversations between men and their urio doctors! My Dr wants me to try the urio , but he has only done three. Therefore I wanted someone who had done more in the office.

The only problem is they don't put you under when they do the operation. I told them when I had the rezum I couldn't handle the pain...

Do think I will be able to handle the pain of this operation?? Also he told me its only good for 5 years.......

I have read so much on this site with men having ed and other sexualy

      problems having this procedure??

That really concerns me.......... as I have ZERO issues there....

      Thanks,

      Leon

      My Friend.

Well that is great that he wants you to try it. Also I know it is a little scary that he only has done 3. I have read that they have to have a doctor that is with the company until they do 10.I hear they do a prostate block. I would never have it done that way. When I had mine done I was number 20 for my doctor. I had mine done in a surgery center under a general

I would ask him to have it done in the hospital under a general. This way you would not feel anything. It does not cause any sexual problems. I have only hear of 1 man that has had a problem with sex and retro. That guy is DEN. I have looked into it and can't find out what went wrong. He is going to the doctor and they are doing test to see what is the problem. I hope they find it for him

Last year there was a 5 year study that done of the men had and problem and no retro. Yes that is true that they say 5 years but you still have the men that were in the trail that are going on 8 years. I am going on 4 years and If I have to have a couple of more clips in a few years so be it.

What I would do is you want see if you could talk with the 3 he has done and see how they are doing.

If you want we can talk again. I'm here for you Ken
